Update: Sorry for the late announcement. I missed about 1 hour. At least I made these 2 new pics showing the length of the shortalls.

The turquoise shortalls have simple suspenders on the back (also a beach scene). The beige probably not but wearing a jacket. At the end she wore other clothes.

Some handsome blond boys, but I don't assume other actors in bibs or shortalls.

Same romantic end like in film #1 (teacher and young woman) in a hayloft.

Update: Now I have seen it almost completely missing the first 15-20 minutes. I thought that there was a boy (+2 more girls) as well but probably it's wrong.

Thanks very much db1 for pointing out this series. I wasn't aware of this or couldn't remember.

The show is almost the same as YCDTOTV (rating 6+) but that had much more seasons and so better 80s fashion and haircut.

I don't like boys with dark or longer hair and don't like the 70s. Almost every episode has some overalls appearance but in total rather few (see comment on YCDTOTV Christmas post linked in the Info 310 update. I only checked that episodes and some episode# are wrong). Mainly scenes with younger Rodney. Best for me is of course Jono.

So rating 5-6 only.

Wearing overalls on Christmas? - Merry Christmas!

Candles, ties and sailor dress.

First thanks to Felix for pointing out episode "Jealousy" of "You Can't Do That On Television" showing Doug in bibs even on Christmas. One other brief scene of him in that episode.There's still no list from db1.

I previously prepared the other 3 pics. Dragonfly of the Sugar Creek gang nearly always wearing bibs, but not for Church or on Christmas. Wearing tight pants and carrying a candle. Tom Till is poor, but he wears overalls and a tie (sitting like this in church). Little Jim asked him why he isn't dressed. Erin Walton wearing her festive dark sailor dress. Even during the Great Depression, the Waltons wear their Sunday clothes. But there were very poor people who wore overalls even on Christmas (see my post 1 or 2 years ago).

Also on Christmas in bibs in "The Children Nobody Wanted", "Highway to Heaven" and other movies (try a blog search with Christmas). But most movies probably don't show bibs on Christmas Day or near a Christmas tree.

So I wish everyone a peaceful Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Geri Jewell might have worn bibs in here (it looks like bibs and she also wore black bibs in another show). Or maybe coveralls. Aileen Quinn also seems to have worn light blue coveralls.

I found this by coincidence and never heard of this show before. It's obviously almost the same as Sesame Street.

I first thought that he is an older teen boy but he is a bit older.

I don't know all episodes and just have seen some few. Sorry, I can't say much more.

She looks much older than 17 or 18 here. She also starred in Cookie's Fortune (1999) in lack bibs (rating 4).

Info 310: Update: You Can’t Do That on Television

I don't remember why I checked some more episodes of this Canadian comedy series. Or maybe I found some pics or clips by recommendation or during research. I first found one more pic of a boy in a sailor suit and then checked and found some more girls and boys in sailor clothes (sailor suit blog rating 8, update coming soon, bedroom blog rating 10 !) Also several shirtless scenes, speedos, underwear, shiny shorts and else.

Finally I even found my favourite actor of this show in overalls, Doug Ptolemy (pic 1 in episode Courage). The bad thing is that he's very young here and I only found this very brief scenes where's nothing much to see.

Then I found a teen girl, probably Christine McGlade in show #4 (unaired). Pic from the archive of Roger Price, the creator.

There's also one young black girl (maybe around 8 or 9 yo) in blue bibs in an unknown episode I found a short clip on YouTube. Probably there are more actors. I haven't checked them all.

Quite interesting "Christmas" movie. 40 minutes. IMDb says 2014 (wide) release. Original release in 1978. Aka "Pal Christmas" and "Drengedrømme".

The boy in bibs is very young. First I thought that there is also another older boy in bibs but it's wrong. There are some older handsome blond boys at school as well but not in bibs.

Also some few other good scenes like (older) boys smoking and stealing in a shop.

Very few good bibs  scenes (nothing much to see of the bibs as he is sitting in class most of the time).

So rating 3. Movie a bit higher.

I found this movie by coincidence on YouTube. I'm not 100% sure about the name of the girl. Could also be Margaret Welsh, but more likely she's the blond girl, her friend. Or maybe Angie Rae McKinney? Sometimes girls look like the same.

Rather some few scenes, mainly at the beginning (and end). I don't like much shortalls and the other scenes are even fewer and not much better. She looks thinner at the rear view but she isn't. There's also a side view of her with females curves but Iwant to show the rear view and the full length.

A typical drama. I can't say much more about the movie and plot.

She also starred (in bibs) in Buried Secrets (1996), rating 5 in faded bibs. The bibs might be better in there, but she looks much older.

So rating 5.

By searching for some clips of the 1998 Hallmark movie starring Haley Joel Osment for my western blog, I found this one.

It's a short film by older teen movie maker Hannah Mennega (from Michigan ?) and is 18 minutes long.

Not sure if anybody is interested in older teen boys. Bibs aren't that bad but he's also not handsome. I hate short and curly hair.

Maybe there are more home movies or school projects like this. B-TV's Tom Sawyer was very good.  I hope to find some more of it.

Another one from the chicks list. I checked most scenes of this movie about 5 times the complete movie but couldn't find any other overalls scenes. Most of the chicks list movies showing women in bibs. If there are any other actors in bibs it couldn't be much scenes.

I don't like at all those action movies. Nominated for 1 Oscar.

And very few bibs scenes, so rating 1-2 for now.

Nothing much to tell more about this movie. Some few boys and other supporting actors. But obviously none in bibs either. There's only one movie with Mel Gibson I like, that's "The Man Without a Face (1993)", rating 7 (also a girl) but also starring Nick Stahl.

 

Info 308: Update: Krempoli

I have checked some more episodes of this famous German 70s series "Krempoli - Ein Platz für wilde Kinder". I was happy that I found next to a boy also a teen girl in blue bibs, but I already have that.

There's one darkhaired kid, I think it's a boy (maybe the same boy who also wears dark blue bibs) in red bibs and green rubber boots in ep. 5. (Rating 4-5 for that bibs)

I still haven't checked all episodes but this series is interesting. I used to watch it in 1975, but nowadays it's nothing special.

I think this brief scene at the end of episode 17 "In Dreams" (1999) only. The series is based on the 1995 Sandra Bullock movie.

Not bad, but she's thin and I haven't noticed better scenes like rear view or similar.

I like dark blue bibs. So although few scenes rating even 6-7.

She later did mainly horror movies and series, but I don't know of any others in overalls. She's much older now anyway.

I have checked most of this movie (many scenes throughout the complete movie) but couldn't find very good scenes. But it's possible that I missed some good scenes? No good rear views (sitting scenes or similar) either (I only noticed rear views from a distance with the jacket).

He's handsome and looks a bit chubby. Set in 1973 rural Arkansas. I thought that this would be a Skandinavian movie.

The movie and plot itselfs seems also a bit poor and nothing special. But I will check it more carefully the next airing.

During research for my western blog I found this movie. I like LHOTP (see that entries, rating up to 9) but this movie seems to be very poor.

And I only noticed very few scenes in bibs. Maybe I make an entry on my western blog for grown-up Laura Ingalls wearing a cowboy hat.

There is also a 2002 sequel but I haven't checked that one (I doubt that this is better). The Emmy nomination was for the music.

Starring Richard Thomas (The Waltons, John-Boy) and Lindsay Crouse. At least another rare western or western-like movie with a girl in bibs (see list 31).

-Comment: A young boy (Hale Lytle, much younger looking than 11 in most scenes, more like 8 yo) in faded, stone washed blue bibs (legs cuffed up). He was sitting on the streets and just stood up. Also without the hat but often dark lit or from a distance.

Not bad, but the boy is younger than thought. The movie is just 15 minutes (completetly on vimeo). He is often shown, but some scenes (half of the movie) are dark lit, partial body shown or in the background. One quite good rear view scene but in the background as well. One side view.

So very few good scenes. That's the problem with all short films (and commercials, TV show appearances and the like).

Named after the 1948 western starring John Wayne. It's even shown on TV in the movie. Directed by Addison Mehr.

But could be worse. So rating 5-6.

I have checked some episodes of this Ukranian family TV series. I thought I haven't had this entry (but I did, previously called Svati, but back then no pics).

There's also an older woman and at least one man (man in light blue bibs). Also (grown-up and kids) in snow bibs (or snow pants). The young girl wears a dress. Maybe more actors in bibs, but I haven't checked all episodes and movies.

Also some boys acting and lots of supporting actors (don't know of any in bibs), also other quite good scenes like speedos.

Pic showing Anna Koshmal *1994, so around 16 or 17 yo  in the 2011 season 5 in shortalls with a belt. But I think rather few bibs scenes in total (except her in season 5).

During research for my western blog, I found a good b&w lobby card of the 1949 movie (9 yo boy sitting). I already had this entry but haven't checked the complete movie until now. Still rating 4. Updated entry at

The setting of both movies are earlier than thought (in around the 1890s, so are ranch and real western movies).

The 1973 remake is very rare and I haven't seen the movie, just some pics. Maybe I even have some parts on a VHS recording but don't have the time to search for it. There are some snapshots, also showing Clint, but not in overalls. There's one very good pic at bfi.org.uk but it's strongly copyrighted as they sold prints of it. (can easily be found by a web image search). So I used a part of a different poster and colorized it.

It's available on a DVDr (MOD) in very good image quality and on an OOP German VHS (2nd alternate German title). I haven't found any (free) clip on the web. Not even a trailer. I wonder why.

The overalls and scenes seem very good (much better than in the 1949 version, and the boy is older), but somehow I don't like Clint Howard, otherwise I maybe would order the DVD.

So rating just 6-7 for now.

Update: Finally, I have seen the complete movie on YouTube. Even more scenes than first assumed. Also some few others in bibs.

I don't have the time to watch everything online anyway. I still consider buying it on DVD but was very disappointed by season 8 (rating 3). Maybe this is a bit better (?). Can anybody help if this is worth buying (considering overalls).

I have to recheck it and maybe buy it or wait for being online or even on TV.

Update: I finally have bought this last season. Probably better than thought and better than s8. But few good scenes. Some boys in bibs but short scene. Jim-Bob in coveralls and tight jeans. 2 scenes of Cindy in bibs like s8. Also toddlers. Mary Ellen and Erin in tight raw denim bibs. Maybe now rating 5-6.

Update: Completely checked at high speed. Very few scenes and Amanda Peet only or often with a jacket (at 38 minutes). The girl obviously wore a jeans dress or similar at 4 minutes.

I wanted to pause today and it's time for a woman's entry, but I just found this rare movie.

I searched for "A Christmas Carol" (Kody Brown of the Sugar Creek Gang currently playing this on stage, and Little Dorrit had been aired yesterday). I found the character Tiny Tim (not Kody), Dennis Holmes played that in 1957 and so I found this one.

I can't say much more. Looks very interesting and a handsome boy. Novel by Fred Gipson ("Old Yeller", for that also see my western blog).

Dennis Holmes also starred in some other famous western movies and series like Laramie, "The Virginian"/"The Man From Shiloh" and Wagon Train.

There are some expensive DVD offers (probably unofficially DVDr).

Rating 4-5 for now.

The Waltons - s2e11

During research for another story entry, also involving other favourite movies (coming soon), I found this one-room schoolhouse scene by coincidence in s2e11 "The Substitute".

I mentioned it before in the season 2 entry (rating 9) but haven't had pics of that. Now I've seen (too late) that the boy in pic1 is maybe the Charly in my piggyback story entry (linked in season 2). But there are also others in bibs as well. But the other boys are much younger here. Of course also The Waltons in bibs (for more infos see the main entry and the character list entries of Mary-Ellen, Jim-Bob and Jason).

I don't remember if this is a real single one-room schoolhouse (like the one in LHOTP), probably there are other rooms as well, so I think a larger building. But different grades are here together. Set in 1936. There's also a different view of the classroom showing the kids sitting but headshots only.

As announced, a season 9 entry also coming soon and another related entry. I could have made a Waltons week, but I post something different in between (along a boy entry rating 7-8).

I found a new actual pic of Kody Brown of the Sugar Creek Gang. He is currently playing "A Christmas Carol" at a different theater in Atlanta.

During research for the final still missing season of The Waltons (season 9 , entry coming soon), I found this almost 7 minute long sketch on YouTube by coincidence. It's called The Walnuts (s8e14, 1975). A complete episode was 60 minutes.

Actors are quite old but quite funny and interesting action of lifting up the overalls.

Maybe there are other episodes showing bibs as well?

8 Golden Globes. I never heard about that show. Manye guest stars in this and other episodes.

There are some shows on different DVD sets (maybe including this one). At least some are in very bad DVDr image quality.

Rating 2-3 due to the short scenes and their age.

How could I missed this one? 2 Oscars. Some or all movies had been aired some few weeks ago around Halloween but I haven't seen them then but long time ago. I mainly remember the key scenes of part 1 (1979) what is maybe the best and scariest Sci-Fi movie ever and more a horror movie.

Designer H. R. Giger died some months ago (R.I.P.). I think I don't have to tell much more about this famous movies. I have to check all movies again including the Predator and Prometheus movies. But I doubt that there are many good scenes of kids or others in overalls.

Info 308: Update: Growing Pains

Some time ago I rechecked some parts of the season 2 DVD and also found a very brief scene of this boy in hickory striped bibs in I think s2e18. Also an old man in blue bibs. And a teen girl in rare green pants with suspenders.

I don't know why I missed that. Either I bought it earlier before blogging or because it's a very brief scene.

Season 3 is also now available (officially as MOD DVDr on demand). I still have to check the other seasons. But my favourite episode was already in season 2.

Maybe my most favourite comedy series next to Home Improvement (handsome Jeremy Miller and even Leonardo DiCaprio).

Thanks Morten for suggesting this movie. English title "Cold Prey 3 - The Beginning". Rated 15+ in Norway, FSK 18 in Germany. More a thriller than a horror movie.

She wears bibs most of the time (about half of the movie) but often with a jacket and most scenes are dark lit and in the background. Also some few wet scenes. I somehow missed the bloody scenes (blood on overalls, how could that happen, that I missed it?) and have to recheck the end. Also few (good) rear views. Sitting on the floor in the sun but bad view and nothing much to see.

What else should I say? I like horror movies, but I prefer farm movies (and males). There are definitely better movies, also showing women. At least some quite good wet scenes (in water and running, but fast acti0n and in the background).

Rating 3-4. Dubbed version on YouTube (Presos no gelo 3).

I found almost all actors, except one or two, but first an update of Kody Brown (pictured).

Pic showing him in 2008 (16 or 17 yo) as a "Vocal major" in the GHP (Governor's Honors Program) what is a holiday project at the Valdosta State University. Pic courtesy of the official GHP project / Valdosta.edu. I didn't know that he was also doing choral music. In the same year he also was a "Theatre Minor" (Shakespeare plays), but no pics of that. There are some more pics and even vids showing him in a black suit but you can hardly identify him.

His previous Facebook site (Oklahoma) is now deleted (I found some pics of that). I found a new FB page but I'm not sure if it's really him. On each pic he looks different but it's possible. Some facts are the same, others very similar.

Most of the other Sugar Creek Gang actors have unique names and can easily be found on FB. So no need for uploading more pics. Though mostly private pages.

Jacob Velcoff (photographer, musician and/or DJ), Jay St. Onge (more into sports and swimming) and the Garmon brothers.

I didn't know that that Garmon's are half-Mexicans and that there are 4 brothers. Joshua has a blog containing religious posts, texts only.

Emily Jordan is probably the only one except Lexi Johnson who continued her acting career (feature films) and has an IMDb entry.

I haven't found Samuel Hodge yet and have to recheck Drew Dyer.

Update: I also have found these 2. A bit shocked. Why do all guys have to grow beards after their teen age?

I don't know the complete movie as I only have seen some short clips. Available on DVD (not sure if it's officially and can't say about the image quality) and stream.

She also starred in many other westerns. But I haven't seen any others of them and also can't say much more about this one.

Story 82: One-room schoolhouse

Inspired by my latest book entry (book 39) and especially my linked post "no underwear and schoolhouse smell" I searched for pics and more texts. I found some quite good ones on the web but for copyright reasons, I just give links. I also found some new ones on loc gov, although I search all of the FSA-OWI pics before. Few schoolhouses and I searched all for school+children. I don't have the time to check all for just the keyword school. I also found some few pics in color and an interesting PD- book.

There are also many movies and series showing schoolhouses, but I don't remember every one (try a blog search school). I mainly remember LHOTP, The Waltons, Christy, The Cowboys (1972), Tom Sawyer  etc.

Mainly of interest is the time between (1900) 1910-1940s or up to the 1950s like in The Sugar Creek Gang. Earlier schools like Pioneer schools often don't have kids in bibs.

The Smell. I previously found books describing the smell of new overalls and starched dresses. But this might only true for some of them and maybe only once a year and not during the war. I found more the following smells: body odor (as kids or boys only used to bath once a week) and as most of them had to do chores before school, they smell of manure and rest of plants. The schools smell of turpentine and chalk and in the winter they dried their coats on the oven.
