And another one from the playlist. Folder Divers. Usually I don't post personal clips. But this is very interesting. Shown putting on every single pair over another. Rather poor views, though (no sitting no rear). 4'06. Uploader "Overalls Are the new 2018". At least the first one are shortalls, there's also a mirror. There are some more clips like "How to style overalls if your embarrassed to wear them" with a belt.

Several clips from the playlist are unavailable in Germany, up to 48 clips in Folder Série TV, even much more in the UK. I assume it's mainly one series. 21 in film. I could reduce that I think to 8. Probably most are geoblocked (due to music), some might be private or deleted. There's no function anymore "show unavailable clips". With a website I discovered some few. At least 6 from L'instit (folder film) and L'argent fait le bonheur. I have to check other VPNs. Also, new additions are added both on top and bottom even in one list/folder. 

Laurent, it would be great if you can post a list of all titles or links at least for upcoming ones missing here. 

Story 153: Sitting rear view on benches, floor, truck - The Waltons

 

Sitting at a table usually not having good sights, neither front nor rear, maybe side view. The benches in The Waltons are great. Sometimes 2 or more next each other. I didn't recall much good scenes, though. Especially not on the opposite bench near the sink. Sometimes there are front views when standing up or sitting down. 

I recently noticed Ben and Jim-Bob sitting down. Also Jason and Mary Ellen sitting on floor and Mary Ellen and Jim-Bob. I also remember a good scene of Mary Ellen in season 1 (ep18 ?) standing up and turning. And Ben outside in hickory when smoking.

In s2e5 (CD2 at 12) I found this nice scene. Jason, in Lee's lifting up one leg. One hand at hip. Great rear view. Note, that they wore shoes. Jason often wore regular, dark jeans in early episodes of season 2. Jim-Bob in hickory striped.

Mary Ellen with hands in her pockets in her vintage, dark pair (like season 1). On disc 3 she wore another faded pair (see other posts incl her list).

Info 1658: New historic PD photos, Mennonite Photo Collection

 

I've added 5 photos on my Google Photos album, different sizes. I've added them to the FSA-OWI album, although they're probably not from that album. Not sure even if on loc.gov. I've found them on flickr (mennonitechurchusa-archives). 

There are some more, including one good rear view bending forwards, but very small size.

I haven't altered the pics, so the original date is preserved, resulting that these 2 not appearing on bottom or top of the album. The other 3 new ones are at bottom.  I've also added parts of the description (names, year 1940s, 50s).

Cedarmont Kids: There's A Hole In The Bucket

I have now checked all the "new" clips. Bibs in almost all episodes, except Christmas songs and bible plots. I made more than 50 caps for around 8-10 posts. So I think I will make each time one Cedarmont post and one with something else.

In "Old Time Religion" there are also front views outside near the beginning but very briefly (coming later).

Here is a boy wearing long/oversized (almost) raw denim bibs. Story: What to do, when overalls are too long. Usually, they cuff up the legs and maybe wear them baggy. Here it looks, as if they were folded and stacked up at the rear. Also note that the bib is at very high position just below the throat. I wonder why he just didn't wear a kid's pair. Sometimes, especially on the early times, (teen) girls and ladies wore man's overalls (for work). Nowadays, there are (tight) pairs specially cut for females (mainly 90s fashion).

Story: Too handsome for overalls? #2 - Little House on the Prairie

 

Season 8 of LHOTP has just been finished on German TV. Very good plots, but some are very dramatic. As said, there are few bibs scenes in seasons 7-9 and I prefer the earlier seasons. 

The most handsome boy actor (besides maybe some guest stars) is freckled young Jason Bateman as 11/12 yo adopted James Cooper Ingalls (pictured in s7e22, I think the only episode of him in bibs). Sitting (but just this scene with his arm over his lap, 3 standing scenes front and walking rear view).

This time, I missed that episode on TV and I already had a post (rating 5), I didn't remember him in bibs. Unfortunatley rather few scenes and simple beige bibs. Yesterday, I have rechecked it (luckily I found the full episode, Polish title and dubbed). I still have to re-check s7e21.

I think most real farm kids/boys in the 1890s, 1900s and during the Great Depression aren't very handsome. The props and costumes might be quite realistic but I think they forgot the hair. There was no electricity (at all or in most homes) and so no electric hair dryers to reach these floppy hairstyles. On the other hand, nobody would watch a series with just ugly actors. Actors with dark and curly hair are often not (show as) handsome or smart (like Willy). Most girls have dark hair as well (except notably Nelly) and pigtails and dresses.

Another one of the great MickeyMcGuire film series currently rating up to 7. As announced there are some few movies available on different DVD compilations (this one is on Mickey's Movies and other juvenile comedies, probably in poor quality, others on Lost comedy classics, Klamottenkiste (vol 10 ?) and 4 on Mickey McGuire) but currently Classixflix restoring after Our Gang also many movies of this series. I think one is already on a bonus disc and a brief sample of another movie on YouTube (coming soon). This one is also only partial on YouTube from another collector.

I like the classics, but there are even better ones. Rating ~4-5 for this one.

 

Story 147: Horse and lady in matching pink coveralls

I've seen monkeys in bibs but not horses. So this is something for a story post. This is from the 2020 movie The Farmer and the Belle: Saving Santaland (coming next). Jenn Gotzon pictured. There's also a young girl and old man in blue bibs and men and ladies in red coveralls.

Story 146: sanforized and starched raw denim

Recently, I found the term "sanforized overalls" in a book. I think, I heard of it before, but I never really thought about it. So when buying raw denim overalls (or jeans) that are not sanforized they will shrink, so you have to order a larger size. And kids or teens grow, so that has to be considered as well.

I read in several books, that in history, farm boys often got one new pair of overalls on Christmas, orderd by a mail-order catalogue. And at school, they want to remain them like new as long as possible so got them washed late, maybe after 2 or 3 weeks.

If a boy has younger siblings and the bibs shrunk and are not ripped after the year, probably some brothers had to wear them. Not sure how many bibs were sanforized but none before it's invention in ~1930.

Now I read on heddels.com that some starch their denims with a spray of corn starch. I never heard of that before and only read about the smell of denim and starched dresses in a one-room schoolhouse. Nowadays, I think raw denim are rarely worn, and also in movies they are quite rarely shown, mostly faded bibs.

Update: The Thanksgiving Visitor (Truman Capote) new post

As announced, I have completely rechecked this movie, previously rated 6.

The image quality of the YouTube clips is faded and quite poor. I have both pics enhanced. Rather few scenes at the beginning. The main character is on left and not in bibs.

The boy in bibs is barefooted and on a climbing contraption (on top). Great plot for a story. The other, younger kids around and underneath teasing him, one steps on his barefooted foot. Also a fighting scene on the ground, this time the teen boy starting to fight.

Maybe I also have to check the novel by Truman Capote and the prequel "A Christmas Memory".Some updates about the short story, the name and age of the boy and the exact time setting on the main entry.

Info 1251: 1990s overalls websites - webring - overalls music - medieval

By coincidence, I searched on oocities (previously geocities) for overalls. There were also other personal homepages on tripod and lycos, around 1998. Some are even still active. There was also a webring.

One of the 1st sites, I've found is "The Overall Source" on tripod (active), mainly with lists of the brands but also with the webring on bottom.
Most links are defunct but half of them still work via archive.org.
One of the best sites I found was by German Bibby Yoe (AOL). Including links.

He even had a page about "overalls music" (Lindy Hop, jazz like, movie "Hellzapoppin'" man, b&w also colorized, coming soon) and there also was a questionnaire.

One interesting history on Fardos overalls (geocities) is the fact, that alchemists, magicians and jesters wore one-piece suits in the Middle Ages and children of royalty wore satin or silk overalls in 18th century France.

Story 134: Wearing two pairs of overalls at the same time - Gunsmoke

S19e4 (1973) has just been aired. 15 or 16 yo blonde Vincent Van Patten wore 2 pairs of brown bibs at the same time. Not sure if they are regular pants with suspenders under the other. There are 2 pairs of straps shown on the rear, makes 4. The pair beneath is darker, sometimes even appearing black (maybe 2 different pairs ?)

Also sitting scenes and farm work (sowing). 2 different hats (cap and Cowboy hat) also shown without hats.

Unfortunately I only have seen the last 5 or 10 minutes. I have to recheck that more carefully at slow speed and check the rest.

Wearing 2 pairs I have rarely seen, mainly fishing bibs or a thin protective pair, but more often coveralls like when painting. But in the hot sun on the farm? Did he also wear long underwear? That would make 3 pairs of pants. When having headshots only, often additional straps are from back packs.

Nevertheless very good. Rating 7-8.

Story 133: Being baptized in overalls - The Waltons

Ben Walton, around 16 or 17 yo, like some of other Waltons (John, Jim-Bob) has not yet been baptized. In s5e4 at 43 minutes he's being baptized in his medium blue, faded overalls in the creek. After the procedure, he's been embraced by his mom and I think granny, while soaking wet. Good rear views. But I don't like Ben. No list entry of Ben yet.

Few wearing white clothes or gowns like his aunt Corabeth but I haven't seen any others in bibs.

The Revival meeting reminds me of that in The Sugar Creek Gang. I never heard of that kind of Christian Revival before. Obviously unknown or rare here in Europe and Germany (or called and made different).

Story 129: Pulling up pant legs before sitting or kneeing - The Waltons

I noticed this before, Mary Ellen (now around 19 yo) often pulling up her pant legs when sitting or kneeing down. This scene is from s4e21 (disc 6 at 1h01). Before this, she had her thumbs in her pockets. She often sits on the floor in the living room (so the way down is longer than sitting on the bench at the table).

Her bibs are a bit baggy but not that much. If someone's bibs are too tight then he or she might doing the same.

I have to check more episodes and other movies for that behavior. Maybe boys rarely doing this. (Or they rarely wearing bibs that tight or that baggy to avoid it).

The same problem occurs when cycling, running, dancing, jumping or other activities.

I only remember one younger teen boy cycling in very baggy bibs in Huck & the King of Hearts (rating 7+), but I don't remember him doing this.

Story 137: Overlapping straps - Cebollitas etc

Overlapping straps are generally very rarely shown. I only have around 7 entries on my complete blog. Some straps have button and holes like Mary Ellen Walton in season 1. I currently have only 2 US movies with overlapping straps (A Winner Never Quits, Man With the Gun (1955). And around 4 European ones, mainly French. Long straps in Papa Poule.

In Cebollitas, almost everybody has overlapping straps often hanging out. Obviously on purpose. I first noticed this on Andrea in her blue bibs (pic 2, here ep 109). Sometimes she has them twirled up and knotted.

Pic 1 showing Fede in ep 60. He was jumping here and the straps flying up in the air. I think he and some others sometimes put them back. In later episodes his bib is at very high position (see list by color). He often has a backpack and also often his bib down also when not changing clothes. He often wears bibs just before episode 75 where I first started to check completetly. Unfortunately no notable rear views, yet.

Pic 3 Gamuza has one strap hanging out and grabbed his straps but I think leaving it hanging out. Ep 64.

Story 116: Sitting + rocking up and down - The Waltons s2

After rating 1-2 I make a rating 9-10 entry as a reward. And after watching my recent purchases including The Waltons  s9, I continued rechecking season 2.

In ep. 16 (CD 5 at 35 minutes) Jim-Bob sitting in his hickory striped bibs moving his lap and hips up and down. One of the best scenes of the young Jim-Bob.

I mentioned this sitting scene before but without a pic and I even haven't noticed anything special by my recent rewatching. I don't like hickory stripes and he's quite young, so "only" rating 9. Also later a good riding scene but with a pullover. Some more good scenes (sitting or in dark blue bibs). More entries coming later (almost all good scene are already mentioned).

Mary Ellen mostly in light blue bibs. One rare sitting scene of her and Jim-Bob on the floor at 18 minutes (same episode).

Story 72: Piggyback, updates The Waltons season 2 (f/m)

After completing season 6, I now have seen about 10 hours of season 2 of The Waltons (slow speed). Of course a bit funny to see the actors much younger, especially Jim-Bob.

Unlike season 1, Mary Ellen is wearing light blue bibs for the first time (CD3 at 6 minutes, ep 9, more infos on the updated Mary Ellen list). Very good, but I prefer the darker stone washed bibs. Light blue bibs are a bit more baggy. She often had her thumbs in the pockets.

Piggyback scenes a bit earlier (4 min on CD3), a boy called Charly (pic 1+3) in khaki and Jim-Bob in hickory striped bibs  (also good bottom view). Very good idea to give a piggyback with someone in overalls.

My favourite actor in this season is still Jason (current position is 1h32 on CD3, bottom view, standing up, also see his list entry).

Also check the season 2 entry (rating 9) and other story entries. Glad to hear that Felix also checked The Sugar Creek Gang and The Waltons. I wonder how many pics he'll do for The Waltons. Every fan of one of the actors should buy the complete series or season. Posting all bibs scenes is almost impossible and doesn't make sense. (So I described my most favourite scenes in each season and on the character list).

Story 147: Sugar Creek Gang - girl Circus, raw denim

As I prefer raw denim bibs, I did some photoshopping. Also the tomboy Circus, who never wore bibs in the movies (I wonder why), I changed. I also made the bib higher. Doesn't look good on the dark green shirt. Also funny, other colors like pink.

Photoshopping is always interesting and funny, as you can change actors, exchange heads and the like. But it's very time consuming, especially searching for good scenes and good replacements.

Story 127: The Waltons - Ben in raw denim overalls

16 yo Ben wearing raw denim bibs in s4e14 (disc 4 at 51 minutes, pictured, so around 6 minutes at this episode), bib at low position. Maybe the bibs aren't brand new and washed once or twice. In the sun or backlight they appear much lighter. Jason's bibs (pic 2 on the left) also appear like raw denim but I think they aren't (shadow). Ben also riding a horse at 54 minutes in these raw denim bibs.

It's just one scene and maybe the bibs are an extra pair or another continuity error. In the next scene he packed his suitcase at their room, wearing his usual hickory striped working bibs. Why would he changed when angry, in a hurry and looking for a job?

Jim-Bob (pic 2, middle) now wearing faded, medium blue bibs. Bib at low position, backside simple suspenders only. I don't like that. And on this disc I have again problems when playing.

I like raw denim bibs, but I don't like Ben with his pimples and bibs with the bib at low position.

There seems to be several scenes with actors in raw denim bibs. At first I don't remember any. I think I will make a list of that because I have many Waltons posts. Probably I will make a list of Ben, too. Brand is Can't Bust 'Em or less likely Lee.
