Updates: Fried Green Tomatoes, others

I have rechecked some few more movies, especially of my schoolhouse list.

Confirming bibs at school in "Wind at My Back" and When Calls the Heart, adding The Basket, Road to Avonlea.

Completely checked Fried Green Tomatoes (all 3 pics, nice sitting scene of Reid Binion, rating 6). There's a brief school scene, probably including bibs.

By request, I recently added a better pic of Eleven of Stranger Things - season 2. I can't find better free clips.

I also have added pics to Griff nach den Sternen (1955) Oliver Grimm b&w (pic from a different movie but bibs are probably the same) and To dendro pou pligoname (boy shortalls). Adding tag wet to The Worst Witch (2017), no new pics.

I also added many movies at Story 8 : Painting in bibs.

Update: Kinderen voor Kinderen festival

As announced, some more scenes of the festival series. Still girls only.

At the top of the blog, below the header, I added a page called topics.

You can find there lists and topics like styles, fabric, different kind of activities, conditions like wet and the like.

From grabbed by the straps/bib to fabric in butt crack. Or rare movies.

I removed the tags boys, girls and women which are also located on the right column. The other subpages either needs to be updated (like favourite women) or removed as they mainly consist of the same.

Update: Split Infinity

I already had updated that post with infos and 2 new pics, but now I have checked the complete movie for a second time, now at regular speed to make sure to not miss anything. (I already had the best scenes and didn't miss much).

As said, many (good) scenes and I almost considered buying the DVD, but still rating "just" 7. Few good scenes of younger boys. Often from a distance or very brief.

Pic 2 showing a handsome blond boy at 1h09. Also previously a similar boy but with a cap. Pic 1 is the Baseball scene at 43 minutes. Also good rear view but most younger boys often in the distance. Batter is older Jason. I think who is also being spanked at school at 25 min. One young boy sitting on the ground.

Pic 3 showing main character, 14 yo girl AJ in shortalls with one strap down at 55 min. Also several girls, young and old in sailor or sailor-style dresses (1929). Pic 4 showing a barn scene with 3 boys at 57 min. Also more scenes with boys at ropes also at the carnival but mainly shown the teen girl hanging and sliding down at a rope.

Unpictured, the creek scene at 45 min. Mainly Jason in front (also wet). One shirtless teen boy sitting barefoot in bibs but from a distance.

Updates: Wish You Well - one-room schoolhouse

I have checked almost all questionable entries on my one-room schoolhouse list including this one completely. Unfortunately most scenes of the movies are very brief and most boys in the background or headshots (as sitting).

There's even the 12 yo girl in raw denim bibs at school (what is very rare). Also at least 2 boys sitting in bibs (one on the front row another one in the back), but the classroom scene at 23 minutes is very brief. Interesting scene though. I think she somehow has problems sitting down in bibs. Some more scenes of her and the boys in bibs. But the boys are not that handsome and their bibs aren't raw denim.

During rechecking of Fried Green Tomatoes (on my one-room schoolhouse list, update coming soon), I found by coincidence a pic of the cover of this one. A school also here but a larger one.

Also a teen boy Jason playing Baseball in bibs at 40 minutes and some more in bibs but from a distance.

Rating at least 7-8 for now. (Most younger boys in the background only). Mostly shown the teen girl and older teen boys.

Subtitle: A Gift From the Past.

Update: Completely checked but at high speed, so might miss some scenes. Much more bibs scenes than assumed. 1st scene at 25 minutes. One older teen boy at school is being spanked in bibs. Novels (1966-1989) by Marjatta Kurenniemi, English title: Jill, Joy and the Mysterious Stranger. Not sure about the time setting. Might appear very modern and colorful, but probably set in the 1970s? Or a mix (timeless plot)

This is a list of one-room schoolhouses in movies and series and involving overalls. Work in progress. Note, that more movies might contain one-room schoolhouses and overalls, but not the kids at school wore them. List is sorted by A-Z.

I'm especially interested in raw denim overalls (including b&w). Girls rarely wore bibs then (in red). The list not includes non-jeans fabric nor movies outside the US/Canada. Next to the regular series there was also this spin-off competition between 1989 and 1992 with partly other kids (Dutch and Belgian). Stuntelkampioen is a great and famous song and also sung by some other choirs in this and also later episodes.

Much more kids on stage and in many costumes. But I prefer the clips from the regular series.

Books 68: several - Story 143: Walking in stiff new overalls

Because of my recent book purchase and previously finds, mainly about one-room schoolhouses (tagged book), I searched for more books and movies. So here my book results. Unfortunately, some of them are available only as snippet-view on Google.

I don't remember any movie or series which is about the smell of new denim overalls, bullying or even the noise while walking. Most movies, set in the Great Depression show faded bibs. Even lengthy series like LHOTP and The Waltons have very few raw denim overalls. The pic is from a Mennonite documentary.  I also found some few more movies.

Book 67: John Steinbeck: The Grapes of Wrath

I don't own this book (yet) but there are many (19) mentionings of overalls (+ additional mentionings of pants). At least men, boys and young boys (barefooted, probably shirtless and dusty with grey hair) but I think mainly men. Also other scenes like washing overalls and on a clothes line.

The pics are from the movie showing a young boy and an older girl in bibs.

The movie is quite interesting (although the boy is very young), but I think, I won't buy the novel for now.

The series is very poor compared to the original 1978-1991 series "Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl"  (also check out my shiny shorts blog for that, rating 8).

Rating 4-5 for this. I prefer the shorthaired boy.

Update: Stranger Things (2016)

A suggestion from Joker. Thanks very much! I already had an entry but just for a little girl in season 1.

I found 12 yo Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in nice, dark blue bibs with curly hair and also in tight, light blue bibs with shorter, flat hair (pic 2 from the bloopers, season 2). She later has even shorter hair looking once more completely different. Also at least 4 teen boys in beige coveralls. Maybe more actors ? Cycling scenes but unknown if in bibs as well.

Also handsome younger boys and nice bedroom scenes (soon on my other blog).

Previously rated 2 for the litte girl, now around rating 5 ? I prefer the darker bibs and have to update this later, when more vids are available. Some pics are available online like on IMDb.

Some boys and (teen) girls in red and blue bibs with matching shirts and shoes. Probably that's the reason why I missed this. Song "Dicke vrienden" of this 1984 episode. Sorry, this is episode 5. And bibs are corduroy fabric.

Not that bad but I think few good sceens and few boys (if any).

But the boy is very young and I don't like his haircut and I think rather few or very few scenes. Outside with a jacket, so not sure if bibs as well but likely.

I found this by coincidence.

Quite interesting, especially for the 70s, but obviously rather few good scenes.

So again rating 4 only.
