Update: It (2017)

I have checked (almost) this complete movie but at high speed, so I might have missed some supporting actors. Next to Beverly (Sophie Lillies) in khaki shortalls (backside simple straps), pics 1+4 at the end, there are at least 2 other girls, both at school.

He played in many Our Gang movies from 1922 (aged ~2) until 1932. I think he rarely wore bibs, mainly or only in the later years. Dark bibs in Small Talk (1929) but I think headshot only behind a table (next to 2 other boys in bibs).

Update: Bakalári (1972)

Another young boy, around 7 yo in dark brown appearing bibs, maybe corduroy, with flared legs in episode "Lek" (1982). Thanks again!

The image quality of the clips is poor, so it's hard to identify the color and fabric even in close-up scenes. Outside with a jacket over them, bibs appear black. But could be dark blue or dark purple. Pink shirt. Or is this a girl? Also sitting but mainly headshots. Several scenes but often from a distance.

Also a man in dark blue bibs, maybe cotton fabric. There might be girls or women in other episodes at least bibs-like dresses.

One 6+ hour clip on YouTube is titled Settle the Score (1989), boy rating 3, but this is obviously Circle of Deceit. Unfortunately in pretty bad image quality. The girls in pics 1+2 are very interesting, nice rear view while walking.

But for the brief scenes, rating ~4 only.

Our Gang Follies of 1938 - colorized

During research, I found this movie as untitled, German dubbed episode. There's also an original English one. When posting this in 2011, I only found b&w clips.

2 farm boys in raw denim or at least dark blue bibs. Also Alfalfa and other boys in sailor suits and other costumes like Western clothes and girl in pigtails (see my other blogs).

Unfortunatley, this is just a brief clip at ~2 minutes.

Pics 1+3 from ep Vytah (1983), pic 2 froom ep Hubertus (1984). I also found an older teen boy in an 1987 clip called "povidky ze zivota". Maybe some more. There are almost 600 episodes at least until 1986. The earlier episodes are b&w. Pic 3 might also show a young girl.

Correct title: Bakaláři. IMDb also has an 1980 and an 1997 series (maybe all the same ?). There are at least 2 DVD sets, containing 6 DVDs each. Each DVD contains 3 episodes (together 55 minutes). Starring Vladimír Mensík, who appeared in many famous series.

For now rating 4. Most boys are probably quite young and not that handsome. One other young boy and man in ep. Lek, rating 3.

Update: Die Büffel sind los!

And another update. Rather few, but good scenes, mainly or only at the beginning. Nice farm scenes, barefooted and even dressing and undressing. Sleeveless shirt but also another shirt over it. And sitting on the ground.

Originally rating 6-7, then rating 4, maybe I have to give a higher rating again.

Due to the few scenes, maybe now rating ~5-6.

Some more pics and final update of this one. The best scenes, I already had. My favourite boy is the handsome, smiling boy (tall boy, pic 1 also rear view, last pic). Some more sitting scenes and rear views and other actors. Pic 4 showing the extremely ripped bibs of Mickey Daniels and parts of his dark underwear.

There's one more unpictured scene of boys running to the show, front view, just before pic 3 but very brief and some in the distance.

–Comment: I tried to check the late MGM movies of Our Gang (1938-1944, talkies), but I haven't found any clips online, unlike the earlier Hal Roach movies. As they are still copyrighted, MGM probably is strict and deleting all of them so that people should by the DVD collection. So I mainly checked some pics.

The MGM movies are probably not as good as the earlier ones and there's mainly Robert Blake in too small bibs with small bib, like in Waldo's Last Stand.

I found a pic, like on forgottenfilmcast with a boy, I think Robert Blake, 5 or 6 yo in regular, good bibs. I think it shows Alfalfa, Spanky, Porky, Buckwheat, Leonhard and Mickey (Robert Blake). Porky (Eugene Lee), same age is I think almost as small but looking similar. So this is probably the best movie concerning bibs of the later movies.

Pic is from Mokey (1942), rating 4 showing him as well but ~3 years later.

There are some few other episodes of interest like shirtless swimming, I think even skinny dipping (in "Fightin' Fools" and/or Mighty Lak A Goat) and other scenes, especially nice swim shorts in “Going to Press” (1942) (pic on animatedviews). Also some older, handsome boys at school but not in bibs. I considered buying the DVD set, but probably no need for buying that one just for the bibs scenes. Another good movie with bibs is probably The Smart Guys, at a lake, maybe wet scenes. I still checking the earlier ones, more posts later, also on my other blogs. Alfalfa and another boy singing in Beginner's Luck “She’ll Be Comin’ ‘Round the Mountain” but unfortunatley not in bibs but Western clothes. I also have uploaded 2 better pics of The Pooch.

Update: The Champeen (1923) – Our Gang

Some more pics of this one. I already had an entry but even missed the best scenes. All pics are taken from my DVD, but the image quality isn't much better than the online clips. The 2nd best movie of this compilation next to The Big Show. Maybe some of the supporting actors are the same.

Some great sitting scenes front and also rear views. The boys in pic 1 falling back over off the bench, several, but brief scenes. Also Mickey Daniels in ripped bibs (see main entry) and Joe Cobb in bibs with patches (pic 5, brief scene). Freckled Mickey Daniels and Jackie Davis boxing shirtless. Boxing scenes in other movies on my shiny shorts blog.
