Not bad, novel by R. Wright Campbell. Nominated for 2 Emmy Awards. Also starring Michael Landon as grown-up Hugh.

Maybe ther are better movies. And I don't like hickory striped bibs. I think rather few scenes only. But maybe the novel is of interest.

Rating 5-6. DVDs seem to be bootlegs. VHS OOP. A Hallmark movie? But obviously not produced by them.

Update: I now have completely rechecked the movie (at high speed). He maybe often wore bibs, but mainly under a jacket. Maybe also another boy (closed jacket).

Story 59: Overalls throughout the decades 1890s-2010s

Somehow I thought about the past like The Waltons (I will watch this series starting from season 3 or 4 soon).

I made this pic showing boys and girls in different decades.

Pic showing typical brown non-jeans western bibs in the 1890s (boys: Love's Unending Legacy, then a scene from The Waltons, Krempoli (typical tight bibs of the 70s), Home Improvement and Brotherly Love s2e2).

Girls: Love Comes Softly, The Waltons, season 1, The War Between Men and Women, Ready or Not s2e9 and You're Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's Sleepover Party.

The 1930s there are mainly working bibs of poor people during the Great Depression and WWII. The 70s and 80s there is a typical fashion. The 80s often have baggy bibs and accessories like caps. The 90s showing different colored bibs/shortalls, one strap loose and the like.

Also of interest "The Wonder Years" 50s/60s, Mr. Selkie, Small Wonder, Separate Lives, Alex Mack (90s), The Enid Blyton Secret Series.

Sorry, no women yet. This is just a personal selection of what I thought is typical for that decade. There are also raw denim bibs in the 30s and later and also regular (farm) bibs of men and women later.

Maybe I will create some more later. Please also check my other list (tight and baggy bibs) and story entries.

I forgot the 50s (Sugar Creek Gang) and of course the 2000s and 2010s. Maybe I should create lists or tags.

Interesting plot (true story) about kids with light sensitivity. Also starring Peter Horton, Ashley Malinger and Lindsey Haun (Village of the Damned (1995)).

Directed by Michael Switzer ("What Love Sees", rating 4, boy in bibs).

I think very few bibs scenes of both. So rating 4-5 for now. Also some handsome boy actors including Bradley Pierce (Jumanji) and 12 or 13 yo (Sam Horrigan?) One pic with him and a girl in bibs here

I can't say much more yet and have to watch this comedy film.

Looks like good farm content. Maybe just a typical family movie of it's kind. But rating 2-3 for now due to her age.

Update: After completetly seen (but at high speed) rating 1. No others noticed in bibs. Rather few scenes and I think rather poor plot/movie.

Info 242: Like ugly or handicapped in bibs?

Some thoughts I come across. Maybe a stupid question. Of course everyone prefers handsome actors or actresses.

I don't want to name specific movies and some plots are even based on that. Ugly, handicapped, overweighted or else. Especially farm people are often shown or described simple minded, and especially girls ("tomboys"). And some also wearing some other clothes like dresses.

Of course it's always a matter of taste. Starting of what gender or age someone prefers. People who like people in bibs maybe just watching to the bibs or body shapes.

Personally I also have some preferences and that might affect my ratings, but I try to rate as neutral as possible to serve both sides. I still haven' t a solution for that.

I think there is a new "widget" to embed polls but I have to read more about it. Probably I have to sign up to Polldaddy.

 

Maybe we should be thankful for every movie showing people in bibs.

Both scenes at about 42 minutes).

Update: I have rechecked this movie for my pigtails blog (rating 6 including other girls and wet scene, not wet overalls) and the girl pictured is probably the 6 yo Kimberly or other girl, so either Allison Mack or (less likely) Tina Cleveland? Also an older teen girl in black shortalls or similar at 1h46 (pic coming soon).

The other YouTube recommendation I've recently found and mentioned.

The complete movie is there, but I've only checked it at high speed. I only noticed this short scene.

The movie is based on the true story of the 2 girls (Kimberly Mays and Arlena Twigg) who were switched at birth born in 1978. So setting must be in 1987.

Directed by Waris Hussein (The Possession of Joel Delaney). Emmy nominated.

Not bad, but for these brief scenes with bad view rating 5 for now only. I think rural/farm setting.

Brief scene, young actor. Can't say much more yet. I think he's just the friend of the main character Boule. Comic Boule et Bill by Jean Roba (1959, but movie is set in the 70s like the animated series). Bill is a dog.

Maybe a good and funny family movie.

But for the few bibs scenes rating 3-4 for now. I think no bibs scenes in the trailer.

A brief update of the book "To Kill a Mockingbird". First time the girl Scout is described wearing bibs. She ought to wear a dress instead.
