–Comment: As announced in Touched by an Angel s2e19 (rating 4), at least ~10 yo   Kelsey Mulrooney (1987-2021) in dark blue bibs (maybe cotton) with stars in s3e15 (only). Sitting and walking. Rather few scenes, I think at the end. I haven't found others in bibs, but it's possible. At least men and women in light pink coveralls in s1e8. So rating ~3 for now only.

I also found one more episode in The Pretender (1996) s2e6 in sitting tan bibs (coming soon, rating probably ~5) and sitting in blue bibs in s2e7 next to s3e5 and some few other series.

Picket Fences - s3e9

Zach in light brown or similar long bibs. Few scenes at the beginning, also full view distance, mainly walking rear view but I think dark lit.

Older sister Kimberly maybe wore dark blue/green bibs or similar in s3e8, but only very briefly and partially. Probably rather a dress. Maybe it will clear in later episodes. Update: A green/blue dress, fully shown in s3e20.

–Comment: And another Pearson course. I first only found a photo (pic 2) in the book (2nd edition !) Level 2, unit 1 (Listening 1.5). Not sure if this is from a video. Maybe (most likely) from BBC Vox pops. There is no DVD and yet no DVD-ROM, just online sources. (There are also other Vox pop series, like the Vox pop television interviews from Cambridge University (see my other blog). I found another lady in bibs or shortalls (but headshot only) in Wider World 2 1.4 /1.5 VoxPops media read.

I had this on my other blog and previously haven't found any clips with bibs from the official samples, but by coincidence, I found a clip from Level 1 unit 6 (pic 1). Teen girl Eva sitting. and some few more scenes. I haven't found/checked all units. But obviously again very few scenes. In the 1st edition (probably this it's from) there are different teacher book packs, DVD-ROMs and ActiveTeach (I think latter one is interactive Whiteboard software incl videos but might have lower resolution). Very good, but probably few and brief scenes. So rating ~4-5.

Update: Same or similar girl as in pic 2 called Coco in course Gold Experience, 2nd edition Level B1 Unit 1. Also not sure if she appears in videos.

–Comment: Finally another new boy post and finally an ELT series with a boy in bibs. I searched the official book samples and found 2 photos in level 3 unit 3. I first haven't found a clip of that and even considered buying this (I think there's no DVD but DVD-ROM and digital media). But then I found all clips on YouTube (Go Getter Lesson).

Unfortunatley only very few and brief scenes and only in this episodes (I didn't know that part 1). Standing, camera tilting up (legs are cuffed up 7/8th). Pic 2 headshot only ( in the book also sitting distance). Also walking rear view but with a jacket.

His brother 13, also in white shiny shorts (Introduction 0.1). Also very good handsome, blond Tom 12 yo from Wales in level 2, often in very tight dark blue jeans, not bibs (best in lesson 1.4 walking rear view, front in lesson 8.2 part 2, headshot on my other blog).

Next to these short communication and grammar clips (latter ones mainly animated), there are also "Get Culture" clips from the BBC. In level 3 there's "The Arctic" with I think teens in snow bibs (or pants) with closed jackets. Level 1 is also not bad. Long blonde pigtails in level 2 Unit 1.2 (school uniforms incl Tom).

Good series. For the brief scenes rating 4-5. (Tom rating ~6-7.)

–Comment: Gisa Flake and at least one man (standing rear view, distance) in orange synthetic bibs without jacket (garbage collectors). Pic from s4e2 ("(K)eine saubere Sache") which has recently been aired (I think she only starred in this episode). Rather few scenes at ~33 minutes. Also fixing one of the braces. On a rear view you can see her underwear through.

Most of the men including Uwe Ochsenknecht wore orange pants with a belt (and usually jackets and or vests). So similar like firefighter who often don't wear bibs anymore.

Orange bibs of jeans fabric aren't bad (depending on the actor/actress), but I don't like orange synthetic. Blue would be a bit better. She's also overweighted.

I don't know the other and upcoming episodes, it's possible that there are other actors in (regular) bibs. Availabe on the daserste / ardmediathek.

I also have completely read the film-script novelisation of The Enid Blyton Secret Series (The Secret Island). No descriptions of bibs, no illustrations, no photos (exept on the front and back cover).

The age transformation site (or better the movies section called Visible Time) has been deleted after 16 years. The main site with manga and stories and forum (2bya) is still up.

I found this official YouTube clip during research for my other blog (no entry yet).

I haven't found DVDs but books/ebooks with Digital Activities / web content. Not sure what exact (teacher, student). Most contents are probably animations, though. So I don't assume much (notable) clips. And the girl is very young.

So rating ~2-3 only. Also Soccer scenes (see my other blog). There are probably also a bit older kids in higher levels. Levels 4+6 will be published in 2023.

Update: The Famous Five (1978)

After having checked The Enid Blyton Secret Series (I haven't rechecked yet, the other 15 episodes as there are no scenes of Tom Pizey in bibs, just the girl in shortalls), I have quickly rechecked the Famous Five, after finding a screenshot with Anne in rubber boots. I first thought of a farm episode but I found her very late,

Pic 1 is from ep/clip 11 Five on a Secret Trail. Sitting. This pair is medium blue and has a pattern frame on the bib. 

Pic 2 is a different faded pair from ep/clip 23 Five Go To Demons Rock E01.

Also riding in bibs, but with a closed jacket in 10 Five Go To Mystery Moor. And cycling in 14 Five Get into Trouble E01. (adding these tags). Open jacket, faded bibs. On beach barefooted, legs cuffed up in 20 Five Fall Into Adventure 01. All bibs are very tight. Some more sitting scenes in other episodes.

2 new pics from clips with better quality. I don't like the 70s and tight bibs. Rather few good scenes and not in every episode. Also 2 boys swimming in underwear (tight briefs).

I have briefly checked it. Obviously a good, quite funny movie, which is a remake of a 1959 movie. There are also earlier and later movies. Novel by Felix Salten. Starring Ed Begley Jr. and Jordan Warkol. I haven't found an official DVD release.

Not bad, but brief scene. Rating ~5.

A new, better pic of Ike Eisenmann in bibs showing more of the bibs.

I had a similar pic on the 1st update. The bib pocket (and maybe the legs) is medium almost light blue, probably this is backlit here. The bib is dark blue, maybe raw denim.

It also was on my bedroom blog (unknown rating, probably 5 or lower).

Update 2: Good Old Boy: A Delta Boyhood

 

There's another, young black boy in faded bibs at 4 minutes (farm scene). I only have seen a 3rd of the movie, yet.

The author Willie Morris also wrote My Dog Skip (rating 7) a similar 1940s Mississippi book/movie. There's also a book sequel: Good Old Boy and the Witch of Yazoo. I think the books are autobiographical (a thin white boy). Obviously no mentionings of bibs in the first novel.

The fat boy is called Bubba, played by Devin Ratray ("Home Alone", "Litte Monsters").

Touched by an Angel - s2e19

 

~8 yo Kelsey Mulrooney (1987-2021) as 7 yo Tanya in blue bibs with an open jacket in 1996 ep Dear God. Has recently been aired. I missed some parts.

During research I found her in bibs in some other series/movies like Second Chances (1998) rating 5, NYPD Blue (1993, s5e5), The Pretender (1996) s3e5 (1998) and 3 more episodes, I later found s2e6+7, Caroline in the City (s3e15, long, very dark blue with stars, rating 3) and maybe more (coming soon).

She also starred in s8e8 (2001) but not in bibs.

Several scenes but probably always with the jacket. And she's quite young. So rating ~3-4 only.

There is a new full upload on YouTube! (full screen 3:4). Unfortunatley in very low resolution (240p or 320x200). I think there is still no DVD release (but OOP VHS). Best is obviously still pic 1 sitting down (at 1h08). Also at least an older teen boy in bibs. ALso other scenes of interest (swimming in underwear at 52 and maybe also another scene earlier). Pic 2 at ~59 minutes.

I have just found it and currently don't have the time to watch it completely.

There's also a novel by Willie Morris, maybe also worth reading.

Books 119: List of Enid Blyton books

 

This is a list (work in progress) of Enid Blyton books (and vinyl) showing boys or girls in (mainly long) bibs on the book cover. Most have illustrations inside but these could not include bibs and depending on the illustrator and depending of the country and of the editions. First I had problems finding the English title as some are not included in the list on German Wikipedia. Most of the German editions are from the 70s. Only few have been made into movies. I can't check every cover of every editions and every country. There are 700 English books. Makes thousands of different covers.

Picket Fences - s3e4

Next to the older black teen girl I had before in update 2 (had s3e5 but it's s3e4) front view, now rear view (and she's also sitting in class, last row, so often out of focus), I also found a thin, white teen girl sitting in the front row, so fully shown. Faded black bibs (2nd from left). At ~5 minutes. Also later standing.

The oversized/baggy bibs of the black girl are even better, but brief scene. Rating ~6.

On pic 2, Kimberly is on the right, She also wore black pants with suspenders. Plots of season 3 are up to now again very weak.

Update 2: The Enid Blyton Secret Series - rating 9

 

I searched for (new) DVD releases and found this and other Blyton series. I considered buying it but found new German YouTube uploads in excellent DVD quality (but widescreen, so cropped but all notable scenes completely shown), at least one of the 2 German versions are fullscreen. I still have to watch all episodes at regular speed. 

There are more very good scenes of Tom Pizey in very baggy bibs I didn't remember and maybe even missed before. So now rating 9 instead of 7. So one of the best non-US series. All scenes with him in bibs only in all 4 episodes of Die verwegenen Vier reißen aus (The Secret Island).

Episode 1: brief rear view while cleaning up the dishes without jacket pic 3 at 20 minutes, also front/headshot. At 21 climbing out of the windows (close up rear, being pushed by Laura). At 23 running downstairs (outside flat steps, pic 1) best scene of the series. Also Laura sitting and standing up in pink shortalls (at 2, also see  main entry). Shortalls are also quite baggy/oversized.

Episode 2: sitting in a boat (unpictured, I used to have a pic) sitting and standing up, and standing legs, cuffed up (with life vest)

Episode 3: standing, bibs even more baggy over his shoes (pic 2), also more walking scenes

Episode 4: (2nd best scene, see main entry) walking along a street, then also running front and rear. Cool macho style , American style. Also sitting, standing up from the heck of a truck. At 23 another good walking scene.

Pic 4 Laura sitting/standing up in white shortalls is from ep Die verwegenen Vier auf heißer Spur (The Secret Of Killimooin) part 1. Also quite baggy. Another pic standing here.

I also ordered a special book edition (film-script novelisation combined with the Enid Blyton magic with updated story lines, scenery and plenty of action), co-author Alice McCann. -- Update: No descriptions of bibs. Same dialogues like in the episode. No illustrations, no photos (except on the cover, tiny headshots on the back cover).

The plot and setting (NZ) is quite poor but bibs are perfect.

I found several books and vinly covers, mainly girls in bibs, but also some girls. Probably mainly of the 70s. Like the Famous Five 1978. Also good the Adventure series 1996 Girl rating 8). Most are rural/farm settings, but I wonder why there are girls in bibs as most novels were written in/around the 1930s. I have to do more research if there are more movies or notable books.
