Brand #14: The Waltons - part 1

I've started re-watching the full series and have already checked some few  favourite episodes of later seasons. I will make a full list of all characters later (main cast and guest stars). Some pics are currently missing.

Elizabeth dancing in raw denim (s6e10), also in earlier episodes. Also riding. And rear view. I first read "Test", but the tag is dark. I think it's Washinton Dee Cee. The rectangular label is 50s, 40s label is squared. Jimmy (s2e15) wore Lee. Erin (s6e6 at 24) and Mary-Ellen (s4e13) maybe wore the same pair. I first thought that these are white stains, but it's a removed tag "Key". Great tight pair, great rear view, new pic below.

Ben's raw denim in s4e14 are either Lee with an additional "-" stich. Or more likely Can't Bust 'Em. These usually have golden stiches (Gold Label). But I also found them white. I try to find Tom's brand in s4e9 but there's no tag. 1 button and one side is loose. (Rear view). Maybe Washington Dee Cee. Same episode: Samuel "Simple" Miller wore probably Test. Elizabeth's bleached pair currently unknown.

I previously found Jason's (Lee) season 1-3 (different brand in season 4+5) and one pair of Zeb (Big Smith (old tag eg s4e1). Jim-Bob (OshKosh etc) and Elizabeth wore different pairs throughout the seasons.

Brand #13: Briefgeheim, Kinderen voor Kinderen

After Knokken for Twee (boys, girl rating 8) and Thomas & Senior (girls rating 5, update soon), I found Briefgeheim, that I forgot (girls rating 6). There are other girls like in ep 2 (see pic below probably Eva, the other also in faded ones) but one good one in hickory stripes and a belt is in episode 7 (above) the girl is now confirmed to be Jackie. Also good sitting scenes (see main post). Maybe older than 11. Probably the others. Short haircut and face like a boy.

Although quite good quality 720p and some close-ups (best rear: 6'18", front 10'14") I can't read the tag properly. All are the same. From different angles it appears different. I can't even say the amount of letters. Both word from 4-7 letters. Both words maybe ending with R. The lower might end with ..er's (wer's, werk) or lek's (ziek). Some lines might be stiches or shadows from a stripe underneath.1st could be Your or Tour. Or Tiscot. Or end with g or z instead of an arrow. 2nd even harder. Free, Street, Tower, Trec. Probably longer starting with Li or IJ or U.

I searched for hours. Checking hundreds of tags. It might be the same as in Kinderen voor Kinderen 1 and maybe also ep 10+18. So used between 1980+1983. The upper word is green the lower red. And a green arrow or line in between. It's not that vintage and maybe not an US brand. (Also see my previous post about vintage tags and webfinds).

Maybe it's a Dutch brand, maybe a Kid's brand or maybe a label of a general fashion chain. Maybe also shown on other clothes like shirts or on ads.

Brand: Clothing tags, Webfinds

Searching for the brand(s) of the Dutch 80s series (Kinderen voor Kinderen 1, upcoming post about Briefgeheim) I found via pinterest a blog with many vintage tags (originally taken from a Japanese site). Here is a sample with just from JC Penney. It proves that this and other brands often changed their logos throughout the decades.

So it's even more difficult to identify a brand but rather find a year. But often tags are removed anyway, so you have to check the other characteristics like buttons, holes, stiches, seams, brand patches etc. I currently have ~100 brands in my database and every brand has ~10 different tags. With modern brands there are 1000s of different tags. Some sites also show the different buttons. Some focused on Levi's.

I previously considered re-watching all episodes of The Waltons. I never paid attention to the brands. I found Jason (always ?) wearing Lee (stich / on the bib and vertical hole left) and Zeb wearing Big Smith (old label) in s4e1 and another pair with removed tag on the left and Jim-Bob at least in OshKosh (season 3). I will first check some favourite episodes and soon make a post, but checking all episodes will take months. I hope to also find rare brands. The blog (stopped blogging but also has a good link list)

Update 2/Brand: Knokken voor twee

After "Kinderen voor Kinderen" I'm currently re-checking some more Dutch movies/series. This is rating 8. There's also a girl in black bibs and a man. Also doing handstands. Pics 1+2 are re-uploads, 3 new pics below. The boy in pic 1 wore hickory striped bibs (I haven't noticed that before), obviously brand Lee. Also good scene cycling/mounting a bike. Pic 2 is a very brief scene at the beginning.

I like the boy in the stone washed bibs (pic 3+5, better front view see main entry and sitting in update 1). Also hands in pockets. I couldn't find that brand. Rare vertical seam on the right of the bib. On rear a quite low back and a white label, maybe a triangle pointing up on his right pocket.

There's also a label on the rear of the girl, but I can't identify that either.

I also checked "De bende van hiernaast" (boy, girl rating 6). There's a squared white protruding label on the right back pocket. I found a list of famous 80s (jeans) brands worn in the Netherlands. One famous brand was Japanese Edwin. Also Salty Dog, Fiorucci, Ball (or Of Ball), Chipie, Levi's. Brand Oilily was introduced in 1980. I have to check brands of other jeans and non-jeans fashion.

Country: Germany
Who in bibs: teen girl ~18 ?
Available on DVD: no

Bib occurrence: low- ?
Rating:  4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: At least this young lady or older teen girl (as host at least in this episode) cycling and sitting on grass/sandy hill at a beach.

Very rare series. Not on IMDb and even not on wunschliste.de. I found one episode on YouTube on one of my followed channels. 10 minutes. Not sure how many episodes there were. So maybe more persons in bibs including boys?

Broadcaster ARD (NDR). Maybe also in previous years. By Regina Siegl (maybe not the girl pictured) and Adolf Bollmann (*1937). They married in 1980. Editor Wolfgang Buresch. The series lasted at least - 1981. There was a spin-off "In einem Jahr sieht alles anders aus" (1981).

Rating ~4 for now.

Heaven Sent (2016)

TV drama
-Year: 2016
-Year in film: 2010s ?
-Country: USA
-Who in bibs: girl Taylor ~10
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Bib occurrence: low- ?
-Rating:  3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least ~10 yo as 8 yo daughter but even younger looking Mallory James Mahoney in long dark blue bibs and also red checkered simple cotton shortalls with buttons (also sitting at least in red ones).

Pic from the trailer. I haven't seen the full movie. But I assume very few scenes.

Rating 2-3. I like dark bibs. 2 different pairs, so I give rating 3.

The Boys (1992)

TV pilot, band The Boys (Suns of Light)
-Year: 1992
-Year in film: ~1991
-Country: USA
-Who in bibs: boys ~14, 17?
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: no
-Bib occurrence: very low ?
-Rating:  3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: One young boy with the bib down and teen boy Khiry Abdulsamad with bib up. I think few and brief scenes. Unfortunately very poor image quality.

The last feature film and maybe last post from the deleted playlist. It's about the R&B Motown band. Pic from part 3. Uploaded by jabboys7. (The Boys TV Pilot Part 3 1991). Wide release/IMDb 1992. Songs from 1990.

On the playlist was also clip The Boys - Happy (I think only showing the older boy). The Abdulsamad brothers are 4 boys. 3 young boys, the youngest Bilal "Baby B" *1979, so around 12 then, and the oldest *Nov 1973. Maybe it's the 2nd youngest Tajh "TJ" ~14-15 yo. Or maybe the young boy is no member of the gang?

All also appeared in Kidsongs: A Day with the Animals (Rockin' Robin) And TJ in The Wonderful World of Sports (but obviously none in bibs). They also appeared in some other movies like Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (Badder). I haven't found any photos of them in bibs.

Rating ~2-3.

Info: The Music Man (1962) artful clip, brand

Searching for the brand of the shirtless sitting boys, I found this funny, horror-like clip with original and inverted colors and strange sounds edited by filmmaker and composer Jon Lefkovitz. It's his and also my favourite scene.

Different brands. One with half lid but hole "/" on the right, I haven't found that yet. The right boy with a half bib pocket on the right. Currently I only found Stronghold. But maybe there are more. Very early brands (~1900s) are difficult and hard to find with labels (maybe on ads). Another (different) pair with a half pocket is shown in western Last Train From Gun Hill (boy rating 6). There's another boy in bibs, I have to recheck that.

I previously haven't found then this separate scene as it's not a song track. There's also another clip but filmed off a screen. Hard to find (The Music Man (1962) Mommy), as I remember Mommy from I Love Music Mommy, Me too Mommy.

Main entry still rating 10 (rather ~8)
