Iowa's One-room Schoolhouses

IPTV documentary, 1h
–Year: 2006 ?
–Year in film: 1930s, 40s ?
–Country: USA
–Who in bibs: boys ~6-14 ?
–Available on DVD: yes
–I own: no
–Bib occurrence: medium+ ?
–Rating:  5/10 ?
–Rating: *****
–Comment: I only found a 3 minute clip called "Teaching in an Iowa One-room Schoolhouse" on YouTube showing this older boy in bibs (pic 2, no better views) and a younger boy in bibs, sitting from a distance (side view). Also b&w photos younger and older boys, one blonde boy in hickory stripes.

I don't know the complete documentary which is 1 hour. I found a 1979 clip with another boy in color, but probably from a different documentary. An earlier upload of the clip pictured was probably from 2006. The DVD from 2009? Regional Emmy Award.

Can't say much more.  DVD should be available, but I couldn't find it on IPTV nor PBS shop. OOP?

Rating around 3-4 for the preview clip but probably (much) higher. There's another clip called "Consolidation Brings the End to Iowa's One-room Schoolhouses" (no notable scenes in the preview). The icon on YouTube showing barefooted boys running out of the school (color scene, pic 1), but the icons are not in the clips (but available in high res on Google Images). So at least 4 boys in bibs in the color scenes (probably not much more there, as the room is quite small, but probably 6-8). Bird's eye view of the class showing the icon of clip 1. Two blonde boys in checkered shirts might be brothers.

Rating ~5-6.

–Comment: And another one in this series. One unknown, young, black girl in blue shortalls or similar. I only noticed this very brief scene, I think near the end.

Not that bad, but rating 2-3 for this only.

Starring Ricky Lake, Tonya Crowe and Jill Eickenberry. There are better episodes.

Hide and Shriek (1938) Our Gang

Classic comedy short film (Little Rascals)
–Year: 1938
–Year in film: 1930s
–Country: USA
–Who in bibs: Percy ~5
–Available on DVD: yes
–I own: no
–Clothing occurrence: low
–Rating:  3/10
–Rating: ***
–Comment: And another Our Gang movie. Leonard Landy standing and sitting (at the end) in faded bibs with overlapping straps. Rather few scenes.

I have better movies with him, where he's older, also colorized. Nice ghost plot, though.

So rating 3-4 only (but one of the better rating 3 ones). The last Hal Roach Studio film and the 2nd with Landy. Unlike most others of the cast, he died late in 2017 but only did movies until 1941.

–Year in film: 2000s
–Country: Russia
–Who in bibs: Gena ~20, Vika ~23, others
–Available on DVD: no ?
–I own: no
–Clothing occurrence: low+ ?
–Rating:  3/10 ?
–Rating: ***
–Comment: Another suggestion. Thanks very much! Young man and should be other men and/or older teen boys and young ladies in bibs.

Artyom Semakin (Артём Семакин) as computer genius Gena (Гена), pic 1 from ep 3, pic 3 from ep 6 sitting with both straps down. Pic 2 showing a lady in a turqouise bibs-like dress or shortalls or similar, maybe Victoria Aizentir (Виктория Айзентир) as Vika in ep 15, also dancing.

I have briefly checked more than 10 episodes but only found rather few scenes and noone else in bibs.

Russian title: FM и ребята, what means FM and Guys.

The boy is too old and not handsome (later also in shorter hair but maybe not in bibs anymore?). No real bibs of the lady.

So for now rating 2-3 only. Please comment if there are better scenes/actors in other episodes.

Next Door (1994)

TV Comedy film James Wood
–Year: 1994
–Year in film: 1990s
–Country: USA
–Who in bibs: woman ~39 ?
–Available on DVD: yes
–I own: no
–Clothing occurrence: low-
–Rating:  4/10 ?
–Rating: ****
–Comment: At least this dark haired lady, I think it's Kate Capshaw (both Capshaw and Lucinda Jenney were also blonde, about the same age and looking similar) in faded bibs and sleeveless shirt. Few scenes only. Garden work.

Not bad.

So rating 4-5.

Also handsome boys in shorts (but I think not shiny).

She also starred in "Missing Children: A Mother's Story" with at least a boy in bibs (coming soon).

Update: The Dinosaur Hunter

During the search for my Antaeus DVDr, I found my full TV recording of The Dinosaur Hunter (rating 10 as well). I copied it to my new computer but missed one file (last half or third). Some few better pics.

Very good are the raw denim bibs (also hands in pockets), but he mainly wore the hickory striped ones, also shirtless (pics 2+3).

I have to recheck this once more. I remember a very good scene inside and one riding pic and wet scenes.

Some junior firefighters (boys, girls) without jackets.

My favourite pic there is the little squared pic (3rd from below) which can be enlarged.

THW-Jugend Aktiv

Documentary series, community TV
–Year: 1996
–Year in film: 1990s
–Country: Germany
–Who in bibs: boys, girls ~10-15?
–Available on DVD: no
–I own: no
–Clothing occurrence: always
–Rating:  6/10 ?
–Rating: ******
–Comment: Some boys, mainly around 10 yo and I think girls in mainly light grey, sturdy cotton or jeans bibs. Some few in medium blue ones.

By coincidence, I found this one on YouTube. It's a series of at least 8 clips, which had been aired on local/community TV (Offener Kanal Wesermündung  (Bremerhaven)). Pic is from ep 3 called "THW-Jugend Nordenham 1996 - AKTIV 3 Abseilen" by Michael Funke. Also one blonde boy sitting inside at the end. I only have checked the other episodes briefly, yet.

I like the grey bibs. Nowadays, the folks at THW (Technisches Hilfswerk, Federal Agency for Technical Relief) wear the same blue bibs or pants like the firefighters (modern fabric). And pics and even vids of the grey bibs are rare.

Image quality is often quite poor (simple analog camera?). And most kids are not very handsome. But some good scenes like the block and tackle.

So rating ~6-(7) for now. Update: 2 more pics, also a wet scene and scenes without jackets.

Butterfly (2018)

TV drama mini series
–Year: 2018
–Year in film: 2010s ?
–Country: UK
–Who in bibs: Max ~11, Lily ~14, Vicky ~41 ?
–Available on DVD: no ?
–I own: no
–Clothing occurrence: low- ?
–Rating:  3/10 ?
–Rating: ***
–Comment: Transgender boy Max, played by Callum Booth-Ford (pics 2+4) in light blue shortalls dressed like a girl (and also another pants with straps or bibs?), his older film sister, played by Millie Gibson in dark blue bibs (or shortalls, pic 1) and I think Anna Friel in bordeaux red and dark blue bibs (or shortalls) and also a grey apron or dress. Rather few bibs scenes.

Pic 1 from s1e1, pic 2 from s1e4, pic 3 from the trailer (s1e1 ?), pic 4 is a retouched pic from a review clip.

There should be 3 episodes only, but I found 4. And I haven't found Max in shortalls in any of them. And there might be a 2nd season later?

Interesting plot. But for the few scenes rating ~3 for now only.

Verso sera

–Who in bibs: Papere ~6 ?
–Available on DVD: yes

–Clothing occurrence: very low

–Comment: At least this very young girl (maybe Lara Pranzoni ?) in a long, hickory striped jeans dress.

I noticed only one, rather brief scene. Also quite good rear views. Not real bibs and very young girl. So rating 1-2 only.

English title: Towards Evening.
