I have checked some more episodes. So some more pics of the bibs (bib at high position and very often with a belt). Also wet and muddy scenes, but mainly in shiny shorts. Bibs at least in seasons 1- 3. In later seasons the boys and girls wore mainly or only (racing) coveralls (next to the shorts). Also sitting scenes.

I also have checked the 1988 US version and haven't found bibs scenes in there. But very good shorts including celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Danny Pintauro. Other blog, rating 7-8.
