I have again watched all 5 Sugar Creek Gang movies. I have then checked the web and found this interesting site with fan cast suggestions.

For Dragonfly (Roy Gilbert, skinny kid afraid of everything) there was 18 yo Timothée Kempen-Hamel suggested. I wonder why. 18 yo is way too old. Most other pics of him on the web showing him around age 6. Blond and longer hair. Too young and not much better.
Other suggestions for Dragonfly are August Maturo (dark curly hair), Luke Judy and Teo Briones. All look quite strange and I can't really imagine anyone not having very short blond hair. Dark curly hair would be funny. But first of all the age has to be right.
On different book covers (different years and different countries) Dragonfly and others are shown differently.
Other characters have better suggestions. Like Poetry, but it's quite easy to find a chubby boy. Or Jack Gore as Tom Till (would be better as Bill). For Old Man Paddler, (young) Sean Connery has been suggested (in 2018) .
