A handsome child actor (1911-1969). He also appeared in bibs sitting in hay in "The Turn in the Road" (1919). I haven't searched for other movies yet (there are several). Some might be available.

Book 131: Bob Artley: A Country School Marion No. 7

I recently bought 2 books including this. In novel Charley there was an addendum about a general research of farm work in the 1910s and search for the real Charley. And there, works of Bob Artley were mentioned. He was mainly a cartoonist and had a book about farm chores. But even better is this 1989 one about his experiences with schools. There is a 2006 book called Bob Artley's Country School Days, probably a re-edition. 94 pages as well, letter size.

I found several of the single cartoons on the web. Almost all boys wearing bibs. Set in 1925 up to the 30s. 2 pics are very good and are about noises. One kid said "Well, well. Here comes a squeaky new pair of pants!" (A boy walking in new Christmas corduroys in class, surprisingly not bibs.) Another pic showing a boy in bibs making sounds with his shoes.

There is much more text (by Artley) than assumed. I haven't read it all yet. On the rear cover is a poor b&w photo of boys standing in bibs (author and brother in last row). Other plots are about different odors (some I never thought of before like forgotten mittens on the stove), the way to school, picnics etc. One pic is about a nighmare standing in long johns in school. The boys liked their bibs (instead of knickers) and had winter and summer underwear.

I like farm memoirs especially concerning one-room schoolhouses. Great illustrations. For other books including smells and sounds and movies with one-room schools check out my topics page.

I'm running low of movies with boys, so I'll continue re-uploads of rating 4 posts. I had poor pics of this, so I have rechecked many parts of this movie and found a good stream in HD. Next to the younger boy (son of the hairdresser, uncredited, maybe around 9 yo in dark bibs (who also got a piece of soap in his mouth), one more pic, full view in the main post, bibs are 9/10th length, there's also a teen boy (barn boy, uncredited as well) in hickory striped bibs (could be an apron or else, I think this headshot only, and far from a distance).

Also at least a man and I think another teen boy near then end (but briefly and from a distance). I have to recheck the full movie when I have more time.

Update: Lichterkinder

On YouTube, I found some recommendations on my recent Kids music clips. I already had a 2017 post about a 2016 clip showing a very young girl in faded bibs. Now, I found a 2023 clip (compilation). Might even be the same girl but around 2 years older. Bibs are long, tight and dark blue (also from a distance). There's also a toddler girl in shortalls.

Info 1624: Possible upcoming image issues part 2

 

I now think, that more photos might be affected when Google will change the image URLs (see earlier post linked below).

Probably at least all embedded pics from the Picasa/Google Photos (starting with picasaweb.google) won't show up anymore (except the very few new uploads). That includes

 

my PD pics, mainly FSA-OWI from loc.gov farm pics, mainly b&w (search for FSA)

personal photos/scans, here I have very few, more on my other blog

webfinds /CC albums (both blogs)

As said, all photos are still available but on Google Photos. I won't fix all links. Here's a link with all my shared albums. Same on my blogroll.

Blog's movie caps:

All pics earlier than Dec 2021 with URL bp.blogspot might be affected. (And maybe also later pics, some I had manually taken from those albums). It's unclear if Google will fix all links and if so if that'll work. This blog consists of one HTML file with text and the URL for the photos. So this source has to be changed/converted (by a tool?). I think now there're just redirects of all pics. I wonder what they did since 2016.

I haven't decided if I should already start fixing at least the most relevant pics (like rating 7-10) by myself or wait. I have to read more about it.

There is a thread on the Google's support forum (Blogger, trending). It's still unclear. Some blogspot photos would be fixed automatically, others have to be fixed/re-uploaded manually. There are 2 different transitions (Album archive, in fact there's just a new internal viewer, and URL transition even after July). It's even unclear if my old blog is even affected at all. But Google would (try to) fix everything themselves and even inform about every wrong URL. So I think, I'll wait.

Info 1623: Possible upcoming image issues

For the 2nd time, Google change(d) the URLs of the hosted photos and switched the domain.

This has something to do with the final closure of PicasaWeb, starting in 2016 and ending on July 19th 2023. There already was a migration to Google Photos. Not sure if plain Google Photos (except Blogger) are changed again.

It should be fixed automatically. New uploads (somewhere from 2021) already start with blogger.googleusercontent. Maybe they have started conversion. At least there is a new Blogger Media Archive.

I have more than 5,000 posts and currently >4,000 pics. I have backups, but I hope that automatic conversion will work.

Next to the marionette, there's a young boy called Nicolas, ~7 yo in dark blue bibs in real-life scenes. Some few scenes front and rear mainly playing in the woods. Also climbing up a tree.

I've seen almost all episodes. In most episodes, there's just a brother and sister shown (pictured on left), not in bibs.

French course for young kids (but not that easy and I doubt that without books kids can learn much).

2 boys shirtless in bibs and one girl. I think, I mentioned this before but probably had no pics. The girl might be the same as in red long johns in She'll be Coming. Raw denim bibs. Books 136: Several vintage books

I'm searching for new books and found several books, mainly from German publisher Neuer Jugendschriften Verlag. Most have illustrations (mainly by Walter Rieck) but with some exceptions I can't say if having (good) illustrations or descriptions of bibs inside. Probably not, escpecially descriptions, so I won't buy any of these. Most of these books were published in the 70s. And probably they just drawn (unrelated) kids in typical clothes (same as boys in Lederhosen in 50s books).

I have now checked the complete movie, or better most parts of it. A bit fewer scenes than assumed. There's another very young girl in long bibs at 13 (very brief scene, partial, front and back). Few scenes of mom at the beginning, I haven't noticed full views. But it's possible that I missed some.

The young girl sitting in bibs at 44 but rather a poor side view and headshots. She also had bibs under their pajamas at 24 removing the pajamas. But no need for more pics. Bib at high position also on the rear.

As assumed best scenes of the teen girl (Camryn Macdonald), maybe she's even a bit younger than 15. Beige pair are longer shortalls, 2 scenes at 17. Sleeveless shirts and hands in pockets.

Best scene is running towards the camera at 59 (pic 3). Pics 1+2 at the end, also one brief rear view. Bibs aren't raw denim anymore and brand Ikeda. I haven't made caps of the bibs-like dress (few and poor views).

Rating 5 was correct. No notable sitting scenes, Very few rear views.

I found this rare 1927 movie clip on Facebook by Footage Crowd. I think only one boy in bibs. But very few and brief scenes. So rating ~3 only. Silent film ~10 minutes. Mickey Rooney (middle) as usual not in bibs. Maybe some others wore bibs under their shirts.

A Swedish lady with Morrocan descent, obviously Leila K. (*1971) real name Laila El Khalifi   ليلى الخليفي in faded bibs. Song Ritz (1989). I found this clip on YouTube while searching for my other blog. Uploader Rosa Mannen (Pink Men) has many uploads of rare vintage Swedish Television and music clips (aired in Sweden).

I mentioned this clip before (on the 1st new update/update 6), but I missed the first scene outside the church. At least 3 boys in raw denim bibs and one in faded ones, latter one also sitting but rather poor views. Inside the church there are mainly headshots. So the best scenes are outside. Good rear view in front of the church (see link above). Pic 1 is the best full view of the front. (Other boys from a distance). The boy has a bowl cut.

2 girls in a barn. One in brown bibs (also kneeing) and another one in dark blue bibs.

Quite good farm setting but the light outside is better and the girls are quite young. Not sure about the fabric. Probably both jeans.
