Info 212: Update: Shiloh

Thanks to Felix I made this update of Shiloh (1998). I only had an entry of Shiloh (trilogy) rating 6.

I have seen this movie many years ago and mainly focussed on the boy (Blake Heron).

11 yo Jessica Madison Wright as Sam (pic 1 at ~18 minutes) and her younger sister in real life Tori Wright as Becky in bibs. Pic 3 at 41 min.

The bibs of Jessica looking quite baggy but maybe she's just a bit too thin. Obviously few good scenes, but I like this scene (would be great for photoshopping).

I think I now give rating 8-9; Felix gave rating 5. More and high res pics at his dungareemovies blog.

As announced yesterday, I found this movie during research for "Behind the Waterfall" (girls, shortalls, rating 7), same producer Rick B. Larsen.

I don't know/don't remember this movie and couldn't find any clips excpet the trailer which doesn't include bibs scenes except for an old black man.
So I use this part of a screenshot from tvrage. The girl is obviously quite thin.

Probably a quite interesting Christian family drama also starring some handsome boys, but probably not in bibs. Main character is 10 yo Keagan, played by Andreas Michael Lamelas. Probably farm setting. Not sure about the year of setting. 1990s or 1960s. According to a review it's the 60s but looks more like the 90s. Flashbacks?

I have to check this again later, rating 5-6 for now.

I have now 2 other pics. There should be many boys and girl in bibs but I still haven't checked the complete movie. Still rating 6.

Info 211: LOL (Kody Brown)

Kody Brown ~ 12 yo in 2004, "Dragonfly" in the Sugar Creek Gang film series (rating 10) is my 2nd favourite actor in bibs (after Kyle Eastwood). I have just finished watching again the 1st movie Swamp Robber, this time with commentary and I recently made an entry on my Lederhosenblog (for wearing jeans shorts and other historical 50s clothing) , I checked today mainly for other Christian kids books and movies and first was surprised that there is a 3rd Mandie movie but not starring Lexi Johnson who did the first two and playing Circus (pictured on left).

Then I checked other later movies by the Sugar Creek Gang producers and checked for newer movies starring Kody Brown.

According to IMDb the 45 yo polygamist Kody Brown in "Sister Wives (2010)" is the same as Dragonfly. I first believed that as he is also blond. Can someone please fix that on IMDb?

At least some sons of him have a similar short haircut.

I have checked for other movies starring Kody Brown about 1 year ago and wondered what he was doing later as there's nothing to be found on the web about him.

I also wonder if someone planning a remake or sequel to the Sugar Creek Gang. The most expensive thing is maybe buying the rights of that title. But a remake would always be different with different actors.

Today I also finished the novel "Spencer's Mountain" which is mainly about Clay-Boy (John-Boy Walton). One brief mentioning of his Jewish girl friend not wearing faded coveralls as usual. At least some illustrations of bibs.

After a long break Felix blogged again (dungareemovies blog), he gave rating 7. Looks quite interesting and I have to check the complete movie. Blond and quite handsome but a bit young and suspenders on the back only. You can't expect much more on westerns.

English title "The Hills Run Red (1966)". Maybe I have even seen it some years ago. Music by Ennio Morricone.

The only westerns with dark blue bibs I already have are "Last Train From Gun Hill" (rating 6, I own) and The Ballad of Cable Hogue (rating 6).

Rating 5 for now only. Completely on YouTube. I will check this soon.

Good farm and hay setting but like other commercials it's very short (31 seconds) and this YouTube clip is of very bad image quality (but we should be thankful that it's available).  He is about to take a picture of his dog, so a very brief view of his face, otherwise you even couldn't recognize him.

He is a very handsome actor (see both my other blogs, Little Lord Fauntleroy (sailor suit), Silver Spoons (bunk bed)) but still is very young and even younger looking here. Thanks again Felix for this suggestion!

He is wearing dental braces and has German ancestors. I don't like curly hair but bibs are good. He's a bit thin. I like farm documentaries. Lincoln likes these traditions but had chosen another profession.

Bibs and actress are not bad, not sure about the amount of bibs scenes and the movie itself. I think I would prefer other (horror) films.

Books 26, several f/m

During research I found this books showing black girls and some boy in bibs/shortalls on the covers. I don't know the contents, but I think I wouldn't buy any of them. I was disappointed of the Roll of Thunder series and I think I probably buy other children books with illustrations or other novels from movies next. After finishing A Summer's Exile, I continue Spencer's Mountain which is good and very Waltons-like, but no bibs scenes yet except the illustrations.

A handsome actor and I like him very much. But the image quality for this 31 second YouTube video is very bad. I can hardly recognize him and the bibs are black but briefly shown and also hard to see. And that's even the best scene I have chosen. How should I rate this?

I missed some few parts in between as there was a more interesting 50s movie on a different channel ("Die Halbstarken", see my Lederhosen blog). Also starring Günther Maria Halmer. Filmed in Tyrol.

Rating 2-3 due to the age of the actress. At least farm work. But maybe someone like it. Aka "Die Sennerin".

Book 25: André Gould: A Summer's Exile

This gay novel is about a friendship between two 12 yo farm boys of the 1950s. Many bibs scenes. 1996 novel; 141 pages.

I considered buying this novel for many years and now finally did and I have read it within few days. Very interesting. Few, mainly harmless erotic scenes; it's rather about a friendship and admiration.

The cover showing both boys (looking older to me) in bibs lying on straw at a hayloft. One boy with his bib down. But only the main character, a blond "ugly", a bit depressive boy with sticking out ears wearing bibs (same pair each day). The other dark haired feminine boy who moved to a neighboring farm is wearing jeans in the novel. Sadly no illustrations inside but reminds me of that in the "Soup" novels.

First I wasn't sure about the time setting, as this rural story is timeless, but once Eisenhower was mentioned.

Bibs scenes are often mentioned thrughout the complete novel, so I haven't written down the best scenes. There are some skinny dipping and undressing scenes. But somehow I expected more. I think at least one or maybe both boys won't be gay if grown up. The main character thought about committing suicide (even described how; drowning (in bibs??)) and thinks it's wrong being gay.

I definitely will read this again but I have lots of other to read first. And to those who like girls, this plot is also possible between girls. Books with girls also coming next.
