The 1987 remake (in color) is probably better, rating4 . But both needs to be rechecked.

Neues vom Süderhof - season 2

And another update. Mainly of interest: Ben. Pic 1 from s2e6. A similar sitting scene but not in light blue, but dark blue bibs. Pic 2 from the same episode cycling in colorful red bibs. Also in light blue shortalls on all fours (in s2e6).

Pic 3 from s2e5 again in dark blue bibs, standing showing the height of the bib. The straps are both fastened unlike the light blue bibs in season 1.

I forgot girl Molle in dark blue bibs in s1e4. And some more pics in red shortalls (sitting and I think cycling). Very few riding scenes (no boys).

An interesting scene when Molle help bathing Ben in the tub standing (with briefs on). S2e3. More updates to come, I'm currently checking season 3. A man in green fishing/waterproof bibs in s2e5.

Road to Avonlea – s5e7

And another update of the recent episode. Again older Zachary Bennett in his dark blue bibs. But few scenes near the beginning. Not sure about the fabric. Seems quite thin. And maybe not raw denim. Hay/farm work.

Huckleberry Finn and His Friends (1979) - ep 3

I'm currently watching this DVD again at regular speed. Ian Tracey was then one of my favourite actors. Nice bibs, especially rear view and sitting scenes.

Pic is from ep 3 at 6 minutes. The image quality of the (German) DVD set is very poor. Pic is taken from an US or UK online clip. I think both RC1 and RC2 DVDs are of the same poor, unremastered source. Probably some personal TV recordings like from the 90s Super RTL are of better quality. I hope for a BD release.

Unfortunately no others at school in bibs. But very nice setting. Handsome actors (like Bernie Coulson as Sid) and also good light blue pants of Huck in the later episodes.

I will search for other/better scenes including rear views (will take a while) and list the best scenes.

I have rechecked the complete series at high speed (there are just 12 long episodes).

Pic 1 from ep 12 (12/12) at the end, medium blue, I think long bibs, also from a distance. Pic 2 from ep 3, pic 3 from s1e23. Mainly headshots. One pic I already had (pic 1 in the 1st update, also rear view). maybe the best scene. I haven't noticed the boy, so obviously very few and brief scenes.

Neues vom Süderhof - s1e2

I have started to check all episodes from the beginning to make sure to not miss something. All pics from s1e2. At least 2 good sitting scenes of Ben (played by Niki von der Burg in the first 1 or 2 seasons, pics 1,3,4).

Overlapping straps. Dirty with ketchup. Basecap backwards. But he's very small.

Road to Avonlea – s5e6

Time for Avonlea. Again older Zachary Bennett in bibs, also riding including mounting the horse and in the barn.

Bibs most of the time appear dark grey, especially inside (maybe there are and he wore more than one pair) but at least outside they appear blue.

Not as good than before.

So rating ~6-7.

Update 5: Neues vom Süderhof

Another post of Süderhof. I also received the book about s4e11. It is even illustrated (other illustrator than on the covers) with young Ben shown bibs at the introduction, so probably in each book. He's almost 6yo and rather ressembles the Ben played by Niki von der Burg (s1-s2). Much older in season 4. No text mentionings (yet).

As announced, another episode. One older boy ~11 yo in dark blue bibs at school in the rear but only headshot. Much better outside, full view, walking but from a distance and very brief scene. I hope for more scenes in a later episode.

And one very young boy sitting in short, beige bibs. Not sure about their names. Also good scenes of handsome Kyle Labine like fighting on the ground but not in bibs here. A tomboy in pants also appeared, I think pic below on front.

Road to Avonlea – s5e3

One older, thin teen boy standing in a line to get a job at the cannery. Faded bibs, cap and legs put into the boots. Also some men in bibs, later with additional waterproof aprons.

Not that bad but just one longer scene. Probably a supporting actor and in the background only. Siede/front view. I think no rear views. Rating 5-6 for him.

In s5e4 two boys at school in bibs, coming soon (rating 4). Handsome Kyle Labine but not in bibs and a tomboy in pants, no bibs either.

Update: Lindenstraße

I mainly searched for a girl in pigtails (found, soon on my other blog, ep 786) and found checking several episodes around ep 800 this lady (Sybille Waury) in black bibs (or shortalls) in ep 795, and also Oliver Moser as Felix in dark blue racing coveralls in ep 807 (I think also sitting ?). I somehow don't like Felix, although interesting plots.

Books 92: Lois Lenski: Texas Tomboy

I found some books from Louis Lenski (Regional series) containing bibs scenes and illustrations. Most notable: Texas Tomboy (1950) with a girl, the only girl in bibs at school. Searchable preview on Google Books.

There are some more books from her probably containing bibs scenes and/or depicting boys and girls in bibs on the covers of some editions. But I think none worth buying, at least from the Regional series. Not all books are searchable online. Also a girl in Judy's Journey. Other books are for younger kids like the picture books. Most titles sound interesting but most don't contain bibs scenes.

There are some more flashback scenes like this behind a table. At ~1h07 she wore another pair of shortalls with thin straps. But I missed the end.

Book 91: Sidney: Five Little Peppers and How They Grew

It's getting harder and harder to find good books. I found this by coincidence/hard research. The 1881 text itself is in the Public Domain and doesn't seem to have mentionings of overalls. Illustrations of (later) issues are probably still copyrighted.

There are many different editions and several illustrators. Some illustrations showing overalls of boys and some are very interesting like illustrator William Sharp (1992 ?) and Claudine Nankivel (1963). Author Harriett Lothrop aka Margaret Sidney.

Later I've learned that this is a book series and there are even late 30s movies starring Tommy Bond ("Hideaway (1937)", Spanky (1937) and others.

I have to recheck the other novels and movies. I have very briefly checked the movies and "only" found a little girl in long bibs in "Out West with the Peppers" (entry soon). Backside simple suspenders only.

First, I wasn't sure if this is a dress and so checked up to s1e35 but haven't seen more episodes.

I don't like these soaps at all with "older teens". Very few younger kids shown (not in bibs). Mostly the main characters wore red hotel uniforms with skirts.

One last update, for now. I don't have the time to check all episodes. But I doubt, that I missed (much) better scenes. Already very good scenes of the girls. I think Patrick rarely wore bibs.
