I found this by coincidence and only seen some few episodes (s1-3). Spin-off of "Soap (1977)".

Seasons 2-7 are not available on DVD. I assume few scenes as she's not shown that often and obviously rarely wore bibs. But I can't say much about later seasons or other actors.

So rating 4 for now only.

Sugar Creek Gang #5 Teacher Trouble

–Comment: Time for the Sugar Creek Gang. In this final episode, there are very good sitting scenes and close-ups (of Dragonfly) and it's the only one with Little Jim in bibs (light blue bibs, more pics at the character list and story 45). Again, the pics are not the best scenes; Sorry, no close-ups.

Best close- up scenes, when they make a scarecrow (pic 2, also sitting rear view at 15', see story 83). Some more sitting scenes in the school at 55 minutes (story 45, also close up).

Pic 1 showing Dragonfly in a green camouflage shirt and a scarf later in the movie. He's grabbed by the straps from the rear by Little Jim. His hair is also a bit longer on top unlike most of the time.

Pic 3 showing Poetry in dark blue Carhartt bibs on left (also see other links), Little Jim and Dragonly making a circle. Poetry's bibs looking much darker, even in the sun than in the school at the end (pic 5). More pics of him in the character list. So I think that maybe everyone had 2 pairs for changing.

Pic 4 showing Tom and Big Bob. Bob's baggy bibs are light blue here and appear darker in front of the school.

It's definitely not the best film of them. Poor plot and no wet scenes. But still rating 10.

Update : Cedarmont Kids

I have checked many clips, around 50 from different DVDs. Much more scenes than assumed, including boys and girls in raw denim bibs, boys and girls in shortalls, also shirtless boys. Also riding scenes, barefoot scenes and men in bibs. Maybe half of the songs, especially the bible songs don't show bibs. Few teens.

Pics 1+5 are from "Jack and Jill". Nice raw denim bibs also close-ups. The girl making a forward roll. Also rear views. 2nd pic is now here. Also a boy in shirtless sitting white shortalls and a girl sitting in blue bibs.

Pic 2 is from "Skip To My Lou". Again the boy in raw denim bibs. The other boy in faded bibs and a yellow shirt. He makes a somersault (also rear view).

Pic 3 is from "Farmer in the Dell". At least one boy in shortalls and a straw hat. One other boy and at least 3 girls in bibs. Also very good, like the catchy tune. Old and one new pic now here.

–Comment: Some boys and girls in bibs. Thanks to the recent suggestion, I found this on YouTube by coincidence, first pics 3-5 which are from the song "School Days". One younger, blonde boy in raw denim bibs (also brief rear view) and 2 older boys in blue shirts. Also outside the one-room schoolhouse, but from a distance.

Pics 1+2 are from the song "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain" which is even better and also has girls. And good sitting scenes, also of older girls. Both from DVD Songs of America. I haven't checked all songs and episodes, but  have to give at least rating 8 for now. The boy's brand is Liberty.

Reminds me of the Kidsongs vids, often same songs. I think I have to check it out more and make more entries. Can anybody help finding the best clips?

Update: Also boys sitting in raw denim bibs and girls in shortalls in "I Bought Me A Cat". A young boy in baggy bibs in "There's a Hole in the Bucket". Also a boy in shortalls and hay scenes in "Do Your Ears Hang Low?". Also at least earlier clips, so the blonde boy is even shown younger in 1995.

I only found few and brief scenes. Another scene is, when they are sitting on stairs. (Boy headshot or distance only.

For the commercials, the boys are very young and brief clips anyway. I usually don't posts toddlers or kids aged ~5 or under (with exceptions, e.g. for very famous actors).

There's at least on later Barney video called "Choices Count!" (1997), but I haven't checked that one.

First, I had problems finding other episodes than the 1st one. And I thought that the 2nd girl, from where I only had seen a headshot would wear a jeans dress like in "Spuk unterm Riesenrad", but luckily I found ep. 2 on facebook via the episode title (pic 1).

Sugar Creek Gang #4 Secret Hideout

–Comment: As announced a first, separate entry. My first of the 5 DVDs and still my favourite. I already have more pics of this movie in other posts. Please note, that all my pics are not necessarily showing the best scenes as I don't show too indescent pics like close-ups. I try to describe my favourite scenes. There are lots.

Most shown and most notable is Dragonfly (Kody Brown, pic 1, 3 and 2 on left). I like the dark green shirt. Funny scenes with the hat of the female teacher (also good rear view of him). Pic 2 also showing chubby Poetry in dark blue bibs. Good plot which is a mix of books #6+7.

Very good are following scenes: Beginning (pic 1), Dragonfly announced finding the cave (pic front, here under Dragonfly pic 2) now see behind the scenes colors, and even better hunker down (rear view), another one of that in the DVD extras, in the cave when leaving it (front), sitting on the grass after school when Big Jim shows the letter (pic main entry pic 1), near the end 2 lying scenes, one in the cave and at the end at Old Man Paddler. Also some few sitting scenes, also of others like young Tom, but I don't like much the other actors. No or few shirtless and wet scenes.

Good scenes at 5,9,12,15,26,35,37,44,46 swing no bibs, 54, 1h02 lying, 1h03,1h05,1h07 underwear,1h13. Also many good scenes at the extras (Behind the scenes 1,3,8,12, Bloopers 3, photo galleries lots, especially #3). Kody's sister (real life) is shown at school like at 52 minutes, sitting behind him looking similar but not in bibs. Bill and Little Jim sharing a bed at 50'.

Update: Curly Top (1935)

I recently found a colorized pic of Shirley Temple with a different title and thought of a new movie, but it was from "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938)", which I already had.

But I found a clip from Curly Top (1935) which I also had, but showing next to 7 yo Shirley Temple some more girls in bibs.

Sugar Creek Gang - characters

After The Waltons, I'm now watching again The Sugar Creek Gang movies (currently film 5, missing film 1 and parts of film 3). Initially, I don't want to use many pics and at the beginning, I only had 2 tiny pics, showing some of the actors. But there are 5 movies, several actors and many bibs scenes.

The movies are probably rather unknown outside the US, and in case someone don't know all the movies or don't know, who's who, I make this list, showing the characters and their overalls. I'm still not sure, if everybody just wore one pair each. Due to the simple camera, some occur much lighter in the sun and darker in the backlight and when wet. I have to compare them, especially in film 5 and 1.

I will create separate posts of each of the movies, soon.

Dragonfly



My favourite actor and all time rank #2. He wore faded bibs, bib at low position. Legs cuffed up when in water. Beige sneakers. Maybe the actor, showing the most in bibs. He wore them always, except at the Revival (~80% of film 3, tight purple cotton pants) and when swimming (shirtless tight jeans shorts, film 3+1). Soaked wet in bibs in film 2, also good rear view. Also wet in film 2 (rear, distance). Good close-ups and sitting in film 5. My favourite is still film 4. More infos later.

Tom



Youngest actor (except for toddlers) and he always wore bibs, even in church and at the Revival (+tie) but less shown than Dragonfly. He becomes part of the gang at the end of film 4. Often shown shirtless in bibs. Brother, also in real life, of Big Bob. Best are the photos at the DVD extras (sitting rear). Often sitting, rather few rear views. Best movie maybe film 2. Some funny scenes. Often being pulled at the bib by Bob, once pulling Bob at his.

Big Bob



The bad guy. Also always in bibs and mostly shirtless but not shown that often. Oldest character besides the men and older brother of Tom. Faded bibs with holes at the knee. Bibs are very baggy. Best scenes including wet in film 3 and 5. His bibs appear light blue in film 5. Could be another pair or maybe just washed.

Poetry



Chubby boy. Around half of the time in bibs. Least in films 4+3. Then in regular jeans. Men's bibs, legs cuffed up. Bib often at low position. Side button(s) open. Bibs are dark blue, almost raw denim, at least in film 5 (pics 2+3). Not sure if they are 2 different pairs. Few sitting scenes.

Little Jim



Very handsome boy, but only in bibs in film 5. Light blue, faded bibs, also sitting, but rather few and brief scenes only. Best scene hanging at a swing, together with Bill (Bill not in bibs). More infos later. Also sitting in nice swim shorts in film 3 (shiny shorts blog, rating 7, not pictured).

Other actors

Rest of the gang, including pigtailed girl Circus, not in bibs. Big Jim not even in jeans but beige, thin cotton pants. Some men in bibs including Old Man Paddler. Often sitting. I think no need for showing old men. At least 2 toddler in bibs (Revival, film 3). I don't post pics of toddlers either. Most or all kids are siblings or relatives of the main characters. But I think noone else in bibs. No women in the movies but at least one in one of the novels. Maybe in the DVD extras? Still hoping for a remake. There's one private project (probably no bibs).

Update: Mamma Mia! (2008)

Has been aired yesterday, but I almost missed it completely. Rebroadcasting on Wednesday noon on arte.

Obviously much more bibs scenes of Meryl Streep than assumed. Bibs are tight, (almost) raw denim and don't have rear pockets. As said before, the simple bibs are a bit too short and sometimes she wore a tool belt. No braces but straps are knotted.

Some good movements and the ABBA music is of course very good, but honestly, she's way too old (58). Sliding down the stair rail reminds me of "Sonnenallee" (blonde, longhaired boy in Lederhosen).

Update 2: Zoom (1999)

I have checked several episodes and only found one boy in bibs (young, black boy from NY in s2e1). Also some more interesting scenes of the girls. And boys and girls in shiny shorts (soon on my other blog, rating 4). I haven't found any other bibs than blue colored.

I have checked some few of the suggested commercials. I found much more girls and toddlers. So this is maybe one of the best.

Maybe he did some more commercials or print advertisements as well?

Typical good family film of it's kind about kid detectives.

Update: Mickey McGuire (film series)

As announced, some more movies and interesting scenes.

Pics 1+2 are again from Mickey’s Thrill Hunters. In pic 1 there's obviously the same actor, I already had with the modern haircut. Sleeveless shirt and 1 strap down.

In pic 2 there's one boy in bibs hanging at the roof of a high building and other kids helping him by grabbing him at his bibs. Sorry to all victims of the fire in London. I captured this before.

I have seen this movie many years ago and never like it. Maybe a good plot and a quite good swimming scene but I don't like the actors.

There are 1 or 2 sequels but they are even worse (I don't know of bibs scenes in there).

I can only give rating 4.
