Info 470: webfinds f/m music

I found some Dutch children's CDs depicting girls in bibs like this from the "(B)engeltje" CD series. I haven't found infos about the complete series. There are different kid choirs, mainly or only girls including "De Gouden Nachtegaaltjes" and some few others including undefined choirs just called "House For Kids" and "Hits For Kids".

Most or all songs are translated cover versions of either famous English pop songs or Dutch children's songs like cover version of "Kinderen voor Kinderen" (see also those entries here). Songs are often tied for a special theme.

The girl pictured also appears on "De Meester is gek" (old cover) along some handsome boys (boys not in bibs). But the kids pictured are most likely not the ones singing. Some songs are quite good and close to the original Kinderen voor Kinderen songs. Other voices are quite bad. I own 2 or 3 CDs.

One final update of season 3. I have started season 4 which is even better (as Jim-Bob is older) and my favourite one. All pics from s3e24 (disc 7).

I think, I won't like it anyway. Bib at very low position and I don't like this actor here. Obviously also few and short scenes.

Update: I now have checked (most parts) of the complete movie. I think these are the childhood flashback scenes, probably set in the 1980s.

Bibs and actor are much better than thought (maybe due to his sweater), but for the brief scenes, I can only give rating ~4 (previously 3).

Info 466: Update of Kody Brown - theatre

Finally, I found another stage play with Kody Brown (Dragonfly of the Sugar Creek Gang) and even a recent photo (now again with very short hair). The pic showing a scene from Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Ernest" in Marietta, Georgia at a Dinner theatre in March 2016 (and maybe also later). He played Jack Worthing aka Ernest. Photo courtesy of Mandy L Fason (who also acted).

I thought to find him in another Shakespeare piece due to the 400th anniversary of his death.

I think Kody started his acting career in Acworth (near Marietta) and played at the Cobb Playhouse and Studio in 2003 (The Wizard of Oz) and 2005 (Cheaper by the Dozen), so before the Sugar Creek Gang. It's still hard to find anything because of the other, more famous actor with the same name.

In this 1994 episode there's a young girl around 8 or 9 yo, probably Karianne (pic 2) in dark blue shorter bibs in some few and brief scenes in the second half. Bibs can't be really seen (maybe they aren't) but there's a (publicity) pic of her in hickory striped bibs or shortalls and a yellow shirt. She only appeared in ep 15 and 16.

Florida Orange Juice (advertisement)

Another suggestion. A 1984 TV commercial called "Orange You Smart!"

It shows an older, dark  haired  teen boy probably around 15 or even 16 yo in blue bibs and a white shirt. Farm setting including jumping from a hay loft.

Personally, I don't like him. Too old and not handsome enough (especially for a commercial and compared to others). And the usual problem that commercials are too short. So rating 4(-5) only.

Typical and funny kids detective movie. DVD title "Pinky und der 1.000.000 Mops" aka "Pinky, oder Wer hat den Mops geklaut". English title Pinky and the Million Dollar Pug. Loosely based on  the 1982 novel by Gert Prokop (East Germany), movie setting is at present time.

I have only checked it briefly at high speed from one larger clip called Marathon. I noticed rather few scenes. Some or all episodes can be watched at different Dutch broadcasting sites.

First I thought Winston, the black boy cycling in white bibs but that is something different (plastic bag, table cloth or else).

Some handsome boys and the harbour setting reminds me of Die Pfefferkörner.

Intersting movie series with some very good other scenes and handsome boys (boy in regular jeans, slingshot scene sitting in "Ma and Pa Kettle" 1949, maybe 12 yo Teddy Infuhr ?). They have 15 kids but around half of them are older/grown-ups and half of them girls, so around 4 younger boys, 2 of them very young.

Good and funny scenes, also on my bedroom blog ("Ma and Pa Kettle", rating 5).

Movie series consists of 10 movies from 1947-1957 with different actors for one character. Most famous next to Eyer probably Teddy Infuhr then Donald MacDonald and Jon Gardner all as Benjamin.

The complete DVD box is probably worth buying but maybe too expensive to import outside the US. Ma&Pa Kettle 1949 is available on archive.org in good quality. I still have to check some others, most aren't available on the standard streaming sites.

Book 55: Robert Newton Peck: Soup in the Saddle

Although I'm quite busy and I'm currently reading 3 other (non-overalls) books, and although I was a bit disappointed by some other Soup books, I recently bought "Soup in the Saddle".

I only have read the first chapter yet and I don't expect description of overalls. Already one of the boys described wearing pants with a belt. At least barefooted and good 1920s or 1930s Vermont farm setting + plot.

But there are very good illustrations! Almost every pic showing one or both friends in bibs.

Best pic is a boy shirtless in overalls with the straps and bib down washing himself (rear view). Also other good farm scenes, both boys sitting on a wooden fence, a school scene and the like. One boy who walked barefooted in manure standing on the shoulders of the other to climb into a barn window.

There are different illustrators in different editions. Not sure if this part is also available from a different publisher and illustrator. Mine is a 1988 Yearling paperback but with the same illustrator (Charles Robinson, cover+inside) from the 1983 first edition by A. Knopf. There is also at least one movie (Soup and Me, ABC Weekend 1977) but probably not showing bibs.

Info 464: Fascination for overalls

An anonymous follower of my old blog asked, what is so fascinating about overalls.

Good question. I can only speak for myself but first some general thoughts.

I guess that there are scientific works about this or that preference. Maybe there are farmers who just like women and like her wearing overalls just like he does. And the clothes are just usual clothes for work. Others, outside the US (like me) might like the American lifestyle with huge farms and ranches or western setting.

Overalls are unusual clothes (like Lederhosen and sailor suits) what you almost can't see in a modern city nowadays with some exceptions. At least not barefooted. Of course things and fashion changed.

Some like women in short skirts, bikinis, shiny shorts, Lederhosen or else and gay men might like men in tight jeans or this or that. Others prefer overalls. Some like them tight, others baggy, it depends, some like others or themselves barefoot or in sturdy boots.

Of course it depends always on the person wearing them. So I don't post old and ugly men (when there are no others). I also like other clothes (see my other blogs).

Overalls are comfortable without a belt and give a free feeling especially when barefooted. Boots give a different feeling.

Overalls and especially shortalls are often associated with kids, just like Lederhosen (and sailor suits). So maybe some childhood memories. Same for some hairstyles like pigtails.

Personally I prefer males, raw denim and a bit baggy overalls, for what I like most, see my rankings. Or watch some of my favourite movies.

Probably most straight men prefer something different like young (blond) women in tight overalls or short shortalls.  If commenting, please decent comments. This is not an adult blog.

Story 121: In overalls at knife throwing disc (Marco 2011)

One interesting scene from Marco (2011). Lucas is fixed onto a knife throwing disc, see previous entry, rating 5.

The leather straps in other scenes coming from a backpack like shown on the other post. Backpacks and straps of the bibs are also interesting looking like 4 straps.

Also other good scenes like both boys in one bed (soon on my bedroom blog rating 6).

I found this by coincidence during research for my recent sailor suit entry (Jesli serce masz bijace (rating 4). How could I miss it?

Famous story “Dagli Appennini alle Ande” part of the novel Cuore (Heart) by Edmondo De Amicis. There are also several other movies and series. Like Cuore (1984) series (sailor suit blog rating 10 !).

Alaska Airlines (2000 advertisement)

Thanks for this suggestions! The commercial is called "Gadget boy" and was produced or published in May 2000 by Wongdoody.

A young boy wakes up and some of his inventions includes this overalls-putting-on machine. Later he also wears a basecap.

Unfortunately bad image quality and -as usual- very short. Light blue, faded bibs, quite funny. Dark blond hair. Rating 6.

I have several commercials here and will make a list now. I think I won't post recent commercials.

Obviously a typical movie of it's kind, I usually don't watch them.

I haven't seen it completetly, so I can't say much more. She's also quite old and I assume rather few (good) scenes. I don't like shortalls but could be worse.

So rating 2-3 for now only.

And yet another suggestion. Thanks! I have checked almost the complete series but at high speed. Very few bibs scenes of her (dark blue non-jeans bibs with applications in ep 6) and a dark blue, bibslike short dress. Ronny very often in bibs. Mainly in dark blue bibs, few episodes in beige bibs (ep 11=pic 1, ep 16=pic 3 and ep 21, 8). Pic 1 looks like black bibs (ep 23). Newton also in blue and beige bibs. Pic 4 from ep 14. Ronny also lying on his stomoch on a bed in ep 6.

Another Christmas calendar series, hence 24 episodes. 1998 it was När karusellerna sover (rating 6). Book series by Mans Gahrton ("Eva & Adam").

I noticed only very few good scenes like the sitting scene and the cleaning scene. In fact they are all too young 8 or 9. I think 2 different pairs of blue bibs of Ronny. One appearing purplish almost raw denim, the other is a bit faded, the latter much fewer shown, probably an extra pair with continuity errors (ep 3).  Bibs are a bit baggy/oversized. And I don't like his haircut.

One other girl in plain light blue shortalls. Quite good sitting scenes. Riding scenes (at the end ?) but probably not in bibs (?) Episode 14 La Révélation. The plot is about an assumed adoption. Some handsome boys (including Thibault Dupin and Mathieu Lamoureux), but not in bibs. Rural and ranch setting.

For now one of my last entries of this movie series. I currently only have one more pic from an unknown episode (trailer), coming soon. Many episodes got deleted. Please comment if anybody knows more episodes showing bibs.

I don't remember much of this episode. Rare short bibs, could be better. Pic 2 I like more. I think few (good) scenes only. So rating 4-5.

Update: Jockei Monika

I found one clip showing her in bibs (previously bad pics and mainly a headshot). She looks much older here compared to the headshot (other hairstyle). Playing a teen girl but is 23 yo. Overlapping straps and rare big braces.

Previously rated 4 maybe it's even better.

Looks like a good ranch series. Maybe also riding in bibs?
