-Comment: Stewart Petersen in light blue bibs. I'm not sure, but I think that he is seen in at least two diffent bibs. But other is also rather light or medium blue. The plot is good and I like those film playing in the 1930s. But prefer the second film with the same title (see that entry). The remake has the exact same plot and dialogues, only other actors. The bestselling and famous novel was published in 1961 and used at schools, not sure about the exact year in the film (perhaps 1933). I remember a good fighting scene, where one boy lies on the ground and another boy sits on top of him and descending a ladder in the house in bibs (different in other film).
Update: like in the remake, there's also another boy in bibs, obviously hickory striped. Hands in pockets. See pics in update 2
Still
rating ~6. And I still haven't bought the novel. The word overalls
occured 10x (including buying new pairs for him and his dad). Maybe more
other descriptions (like pants).
There's also a 1992 sequel "Where the Red Fern Grows: Part Two", but I haven't found bibs in there except of the old man.
The 2003 remake starring Joseph Ashton I have on DVD (rating 8) at

Both DVDs are now also available in German (but I only know the English ones).

At least the Pritchard boy wore Big Smith brand (although one button). Old logo.
