As previously announced at the series Jake and the Kid (1995), rating 7, also by W.O. Mitchell, now this entry.

Looks very good. 1930s Depression set in Saskatchewan. Another boy is Doug aka Douglas Junor as "The Young Ben" but probably not in bibs. I think I have to check the novels as well. Directed by Allan King.

There even seems to be a DVD release by learmedia, not sure about the quality and if it's a DVD-r. That isn't available anymore but an official DVD for $ 40 (see update)
