This is from the dungareemovies blog. Thanks very much Felix! Sadly he hadn't added posts for a long time. I like ranch movies and didn't expect bibs scenes in here as it's quite rare wearing them on a modern ranch. I always thought that this is just a typical romance with grown-ups only. So I still haven't seen this famous movie completely and only checked it briefly recently. Sorry for the bad pics I found. Some better ones at Felix' blog (he gave rating 8).

I will check this the next broadcasting and can only give rating 5-6 for now for these short scenes.

Nominated for 1 Oscar, 170 minutes, novel by Nick Evans. Young Star Award and a nomination for a Young Artist Award for Johansson. Pic 3 at 1h00, the others I don't remember.

Update: Now I have seen the second half of this movie (as it was not announced). I only noticed about 2 short scenes with her in bibs (new pics below). One in the barn in regular blue bibs and one in light blue or gray, maybe baggy bibs or maybe the same as on pic 2. No complete view of her overalls and Joe not in bibs in the second half.

So still rating 5 and I will update this the next broadcasting.

Another one from the "chicks list". Even a young man in bibs. Scenes at 33 min (Lori) and 60 minutes.

I don't remember if I have seen the complete movie, I mainly know most of the 80s songs, of course (Kenny Loggins and Bonnie Tyler). I have checked most of this movie recently and only noticed few bibs scenes. It's better than thought also including some farm/rural content, but for bibs scenes I think I don't like it. Actors are "quite" old. Is that really Lori Singer? Looking much younger and different. Also sitting on the floor (rear view).

There is also a 2011 remake which I don't know at all. But it probably isn't better.

Rating 4 for now. No need for a trailer, although Chris Penn is in it.

He's a handsome actor and bibs are not bad, but brief scene, no rear view and very young. And bad image quality. So rating 6. Easy to find on YouTube, and not much more there so no need for embedding it.

Story 48: Better barefoot or boots, front or back?

 

I sometimes ask myself what I like more? Barefooted actors/actresses or in solid shoes or boots. And front or rear view. I'm still not sure. All is interesting if I like the actor and bibs. But I think I prefer barefoot and maybe rear view.

I personally also like wearing solid shoes and bibs. It's hard being barefoot in cities unless it's summer and you have a garden. But I prefer watching others anyway.

Recently I have checked again The Waltons (Season 1 and some parts of season 2 and 7) and there are fewer barefoot scenes than thought. I think Jason is showing the most barefooted. He sometimes wearing shoes while working or at school but at leisure time he is nearly always barefooted also if it's cold and everybody else wearing shoes. I wonder if he had to or if he just liked it. He also had his legs cuffed up.

People rarely wearing sneakers with bibs (Elizabeth while dancing in season 6 or 7) and also Dragonfly of the Sugar Creek Gang walking in the creek. Both in white sneakers. And cowboys rarely wearing bibs. Some actors also wearing rubber boots  but I only like it if real wet or muddy.

I don't know why or how I could miss this one. I own the DVD for many years. One of the few uncut horror films I own (according to IMDb the DVD is shorter). Good plot and handsome young Kevin Zegers (also pictured and also shown shirtless at the end) but I don't like this horror film. Not bloody enough. Aka "Bram Stoker: Dark World". IMDb rating 4.8.

Book 24: Spencer’s Mountain

Earl Hamner Jr. ("The Waltons"): Spencer's Mountain. Pics are from the 1963 movie starring Henry Fonda (bedroom blog rating 6. 9 kids, therof 5 boys. Some boys and some girls sharing one bed). I don't know the complete movie, but there's at least a man in bibs. Also looks like bibs on the clothesline, so also for my list Story 42: Laundry line.

I always considered buying a Walton's novel. But there are mainly biographies (of Hamner, Ike Godsey and Erin) and some franchise books. So I bought Spencer's Mountain (1961) which was inspiration for The Waltons and very similar. Partly same character names and similar plot. Unlike The Waltons which is set in the 1930s and 1940s, this movie is set in the 1960s.

I own an abridged German book which has some color illustrations by Noel Sickles. A man probably the dad Clay, a teen boy probably Clayboy (equals John-Boy) and one or 2 kids (young boy and perhaps the 2 yo female baby) in medium blue bibs.

I have only read some few parts and there are no detailed texts concerning bibs yet.

I'm currently reading a different book in between (but quickly), so I will update this later.

On the blog Your Old Pal, Jim (see my blog list) there is a b&w pic of young women in bibs of the 1920s.

Update: No real mentioning of bibs. At the end the Jewish girl friend of Clay-Boy was not wearing her faded "coveralls" as usual. Coveralls could mean overalls as Olivia called them in The Waltons.

This episode had been re-aired yesterday. First I didn't even noticed her bibs and missed some scenes. There are many kids also at school (in and outside the class but probably no others in bibs). Also one blond boy with a bowlcut (briefly shown front and back at 24 minutes). Funny self-made silver hats to comminicate with aliens like in Signs (2002) starring Rory Culkin.

Quite interesting and unusual plot with many children. Usually I don't watch this very famous crime series (different cops). I bet there are more actors in bibs in other episodes (please comment if someone knows).

Some episodes are available on DVD boxes, but I haven't found this one. Older episodes are often rebroadcasted. Also starring Dietmar Bär and 17 yo Cosma Shiva Hagen. A similar very famous series is Polizeiruf 110 (partly produced in the GDR, 2 entries on my Lederhosenblog rating 7 and 5).

Rating 4 for bibs and not much more for this episode.

I don't like pink shortalls but they look interesting and darker in pic 2. And her mom is maybe a bit too old. Movie is probably better.

Update: Now completely checked. The pink (at 50 minutes) is rather a short dress (very high on the back but buttons on the sides, sitting side view). But there's also another girl in blue shortalls skating at 34 minutes. And the lady in white shortalls at 38 minutes.

Rather few scenes, so rating 4-5 was correct. At least 2 men in bibs, one with one strap down.

Sorry, a bit late for a Christmas movie. I only had the time to watch the first half of this movie and only noticed this brief bibs scene. There are also flashback scenes set in 1947 with the young main character as 8 yo child (played by Gus Salud) and his older brother (coming soon on my bedroom blog, same bedroom, rating 6).

Quite interesting movie, I like the 80s and horror movies. Starring Brandon Maggart ("The World According to Garp") as bad Santa, Jeffrey DeMunn and Dianne Hull. Aka Terror in Toyland.

Rating 2-3 for bibs scenes. Movie rating a bit higher ~5, but I can't say for sure unless I've checked the 2nd half. Horror scenes just starting there. Completely on YouTube (as Christmas Evil) but in Catalan only and quite bad image quality.

Not sure about the year pictured, I have to check if I have this as well, maybe around 2010. I don't know the name of the documentary of 8 yo Jan Arne. Typical modern Heimatfilm with some drama and romance. Nothing special. About 2 younger man in Lederhosen (sitting musicians but also nothing of interest). A boy and a girl acting but neither in bibs nor Lederhosen.

There are some other movies in this series starting with "Da wo..." which means There where. Some are much better and also showing males/boys in bibs and Lederhosen (see my Lederhosen blog) and here "Da wo das Glück beginnt" (rating 6, boy+ young woman in bibs)

Actress is maybe not so bad, but nothing special either.

Rating 1-2. Good alpine landscape scenes and at least another 1 rating.

Quite interesting and awarded coming-of-age film (of 12 yo girl Selma, played by Julia Krohn). Also some good scenes like in simwear (board shorts) and handsome blond actors. English title: The Color of Milk. Directed by Torun Lian ("Bare skyer beveger stjernene" / Only Clouds Move the Stars).

I don't watch this DVD often. But could be worse. The German DVD has German and Norwegian audio (2.0) and German subtitles. No notable extras. Good image quality.

Rating 2 for this short bibs scene of that little girl, rating 5(-6) for the movie.

Very interesting movie about the circus girl Joe (US actress Schuyler Fisk, unpictured) who isn't allowed to be a girl. Even her freckled friend Chris (John Cleere, film son of that woman) doesn't know it until the end.

About 3 scenes at 33, 53 and 1h19). Medium to fewer occurence. Other scenes of interest (incl shirtless scenes): 7, 23, 27 minutes, bedroom at 1h14). I bought his awarded film many years ago, but don't watch it often.

Had been aired some days ago, but I missed most parts of it.

Generelly I like horror movies, but I don't like insects, spiders and similar. US production but filmed in Vancouver, so maybe Canadian supporting actors/kids as well.

I have to check it again later. Also starring Canadian child actor Alexander Pollock, probably not in bibs either.

Rating 2-3 for now. Probably few bibs scenes. This evening on German TV: Overboard (1987), rating 5 (boy in bibs).

Info 209: Update: Children of the Corn

 

I watched again this movie which is I think my favourite horror film. Perfect plot and corn field setting. Sadly very few bibs scenes (rating 6). Now I noticed some more actors in bibs, also a girl, but briefly shown (pic 1 on the far right, also a more close-up scene but more a headshot). And a teen girl (?) in bibs like apron, looks more like a boy (pic 2, also at the end of the movie in a car). Pic 3 showing 2 young boys in bibs sitting on the ground as well (is that a boy with long hair in the foreground?). The best bibs scene (I already had) is the boy in pic 4.

I own a cut German DVD with bad image quality but I've seen the original version (many years ago).

I still have to check some of the other films in this series, I just have part 5 (with a teen girl, a boy and young man in bibs, rating 6) and Disciples of the Crow (rating 5), which is by coincidence currently on the top posts.

Info 208: Update: The Sun Comes Up

I have seen the first half of the Lassie movie "The Sun Comes up" starring Claude Jarman Jr. (blond teen boy pictured). Better than thought and also more boys in bibs and more scenes. Still rating "just" 7-8. I think not officially on DVD. I considered buying it but I only found some DVDr.

Also showing that he takes money out of his bib pocket. Probabably there was often money in it these days. He also takes out a harmonica out of his right waist pocket. Bibs are rather tight. Sitting, lying and hunker down scenes. He also wears regular jeans. The younger boy on the left is also handsome. But all bibs are rather simple and too worn. But luckily this movie is already in color.
