-Comment: 4 brothers (see below), 1 girl, 2 other boys in jeans bibs (1 in shortalls), men. Boys working in field and scuffle and water splashing. The brothers are mildly punished by their dad while standing with taken down bibs (pictured). Mom undressed shirt of the youngest. They got house arrest for ... the rest of the day. I like this kind of farm movies very much. Real farm work, many actors in bibs. Good plot and scenes. I think I have to consider even rating 10. This is a perfect farm film with many boys of different age. Bestselling novel by Alyene Porter and filmed in Dallas. Young Artist Award for 9 year old girl Gennie James (second oldest kid, youngest girl, playing Alyene, pictured right on left) and another 2 nominated incl. Raybon.
Update 1: Since many years there is an US release on VHS, now I discovered a German DVD titled "Immer diese Porters! Eine Familie sorgt für Wirbel" which I just ordered. Also I orderd the 1944 novel. This is autobiographical as Alyene Porter is the youngest daughter. See also info 61 post also tagged book.
Update 2: Now I have seen the DVD. 3 very good farm scenes (it's not the field of the family as they moved to another town but 4 boys work for a farmer). The beginning 15 minutes I saw for the first time showing their old home. At the end of the film Alyene told what her brothers and sister became later.
In between 2 short scenes of Mexican kids at kindergarten, 2 boys ~ 5yo in blue bibs (1 in shortalls). Half of the time the Porters in bibs (also Dad sometimes). But also other pants and jeans, partly raw denim. At the end also Raybon singing with his dad in church in habits. The Porter's kids:
-Paul (Joshua Butts) ~ 6yo (pic 4 on right) bibs, medium scenes
-Alyene (Gennie James) girl ~8yo (pic 4) bibs, medium, also dress
-Gilderoy (Jason Hillhouse) ~10yo (pic 1 on left) bibs medium
-Edd (Gerrod Miskowski) ~12 yo (pic 1 2nd) bibs medium
-Raybon (Brandon Sokolosky) ~14 yo (pic 1 3rd) bibs medium
-Janette, oldest girl ~16yo (not pictured), no bibs
-Cecil, (Scott Wilder) ~17yo (pic 1 on right), non bibs, but farm work
-Hugh (Dallas Benton) ~20yo, not pictured, no bibs, no farm work.
Brands: Gilderoy OshKosh, Raybon: Sears.
DVD: As assumed German only, no subtitles. RC 0. Fullscreen 4:3. No extras. Even no trailers and no pics at scene selection. Image quality is very good (for 1980s) but just at one of the best scenes (pic left) some light film abrasion stripes in the middle of Gilderoy, but only at the beginning of the scene. I still like this film, but could be more bib scenes. Still rating 9.
Update: I also bought the novel which is set in the 1920s but I don't like it.
