I recently bought this 1955 German book and wasn't aware that his is originally part 3 of a 5 part US Christian adventure book series starting in 1953 published by Van Kampen Press and Zondervan. Obviously the only one translated into German, original is Radio Pals Fight the Flood.
The pals and radio operators are 3 brothers, whose dad is a preacher. I'm still reading it, no mentionings of overalls, yet. One of the boys I think Tom wearing bibs, also on the illustrations inside, but latter ones are simple and poor. German illustrator: Joachim Apolke, publisher Oncken. Aimed at boys 10-14 yo. There's a description of the plot on Amazon (US).
Another part of the series is set on a ranch, probably more of interest. Somehow it reminds me of the Sugar Creek Gang. But a typical 50s adventure book.
Update: No text mentionings. But pants.
