The Family Holvak

Great Depression series starring Glenn Ford, 11 ep.
-Year: 1975
-Year in film: 1933
-Country: USA
-Who in bibs: Ramey ~15, girl
-Available on DVD: no *
-I own: no
-Bib occurrence: often- ?
-Rating:  10/10
-Rating: **********
-Comment: Lance Kerwin (pictured) in worn quite baggy bibs, barfeet, also shirtless. I think also others actors at least men in bibs, probably no girls or women.

Finally another 10 rating. I don't know the complete series yet. I think there is no officially DVD nor VHS release, someone offers a DVD (VHS or TV recording transfer), but not sure about the quality or if you even get it. There is also a pilot movie called "The Greatest Gift (1974), also unavailable. According to Kerwin there were 2 more episodes, which might be the pilot. Episodes 1-2 and 5-6 had also been aired as tv movies. I hope there will be a DVD release with optimized image quality.

The plot is about a reverend (Glenn Ford) who played the father of Kerwin, set in Tennessee during the Great Depression. Also containing coming-of-age plots (seduction at a lake, pic below and Kerwin falls in love with his teacher).

Also starring Julie Harris, David Carradine and Elizabeth Cheshire as younger sister Julie.

Reminds a bit of LHOTP but should not be like The Waltons. I can't say much more and have to investigate that further. But already even rating 10.

Update also a 8 yo girl. There's an abridged movie called Long Way Home, rating 8.
